Hi people,

Don't know if this should go here or not but several people have asked about USB for the Apollo vampire boards.
I keep thinking to my self why is it not being implemented seeing as how there is a DIGITAL-VIDEO port on the card so why not a USB port.
I realise there may be some issues implementing USB but having just read this article about the new standard I think that it would definitely be the way forward. The Amiga does need some bleeding edge technology and adopting this latest version of USB would cover all the bases. See link

With this we would only need a couple of these ports to meet everyone's needs.
I understand if it can't be delivered on the Accellerator cards but for the stand alone mobo I think it should be a certainty.

Just a thought

I think that if they made a standalone version with a high end FPGA, the plan was to also have USB, SATA etc. on it. With the V600, you can install the RapidRoad as USB controller.

Thanks Martin,

I have read several of these threads and none seem to state that USB will be included although to me it would make sense as it is very common everywhere now. It was that I happened on the information about USB C only today and so I thought that I might mention it as it makes sense to me that if USB will be added to the Stand alone board then we should go with the latest iteration of the connector. I have noted with several attempts at new Amigas/Compatibles that often earlier versions of hardware are used. For example many add-on cards today have IDE controllers when SATA has been around for several years now and it is very difficult to buy IDE drives. Really good to read Gunnar's statement about the stand alone board where he sadi SATA.

Cheers,
