Hi out there,

I got a preowned V2+ and I want to use it now in my A500 Plus. What do I have to do to use it in the best way?
Please step by step. WB 3.1, 3.5 and 3.9 are available. I have no idea what to patch, install etc.
Several CF up to 32GB are here.

Thank you.

Regards
ethan

1) Remove the old 68000 CPU
2) Insert the VAMP into its socket.
3) As OS download APOLLO_OS, copy it from your PC to a 32GB CF

APOLLO OS has all drivers preinstalled.
Just Power-On and all works

  CONGRATS!

You will need a PC to prep ApolloOS but  Gunnars proposition is a quick way. Requires a 32gb formated capacity SD Card (so not all generic 32gb will work, 32gb+ card is safe way to go). Hope one of your 32gb cards will pass.

Ah, ApolloOS download! (32gb Torrent image!)

So in other words, drivers are needed? Like what drivers?
I understand that SAGA drivers will be needed for P96, but what else?
Isn’t the vampire gonna work with just any installed AmigaOS?

Yes, the CPU accelerator part works "out of the box".

To use the GFX card features, you need to install
the P96 from aminet, and configure it.
To be honest, the P96 config tool are "antique" from design are from today point of view not the most intuitive to use.
If you did use them on any AMIGA GFX card before you will have no problem - but if this is your first time using them,
then having a pre-installed system makes it easier.

Well, I have voodoo 3 installed with P96, but unsure what version of P96 I have. Would it have to be the exact version from Aminet? Or would it be sufficient to just add the driver and the monitor file (with its icon) in the devs/monitors drawer? Then configure it? In an allready installed system, I mean.

If you know AMIGA OS 3.x and P96 already then this is all a piece of cake for you. No need to worry.

But some users might only know AMIGA OS 1.2/1.3, for them having a DEVS/monitors folder is all new learning, also some people might not know what AMINET is - for them having a pre-installed system is very helpful.

Yeah, you’re right
What about 68040.library and/or 68060.library? Are those altered in any way shape or form to work better with the 080?

The 68060 CPU misses a number of INTEGER instructions.
With the 68060 Library those instruction will be emulated by software.
Without this Library the 68060 would simply crash on many games/programs.

APOLLO 68080 does not miss any INTEGER instructions, therefore it can run all programs without help of this library.

The 68040 CPU is complete in regards to Integer instructions - just like the 68080. But the 68040 misses some Floating point instructions, like SIN().
All people agree that leaving them away in the 68040 was very reasonable as they were in HW also very slow. So calling software functions for them is not really slowing them down.
The most important FPU functions are all implemented in HW on the 68040, those rare and slow ones like SIN /COS are left out to be executed in SW - for this the 68040 library is there.

So it was pretty much as I suspected, plus some bonus info that I never knew. Alright, awesome. Thanks Gunnar.
So, in other words, could it be that the 68040 library will let the 080 run any of the instructions missing or different in the 010 and 020, in software instead, and not just simply crash? Or is there a 68080 library for this? Btw, no time like night time, eh? ;)

Only the 680_60 misses Integers instructions and needs a library to not crash.

Neither the 68040 nor the 68080 miss any instructions.

There is a core update, GOLD 2.5 is latest. It can be done from AmigaOS. Yes, that and SAGA are only drivers.

Yes, card can work with any AOS, but needs just these two. Plus creation of P96 screenmodes for the card.

Beside bundle of software and datafiles, ApolloOS comes with SAGA drivers preinstalled. See readme file on ApolloOS website for better understanding how it grown and what is included. Its not only Vamp ready, its also most rounded AOS package ever.

Not altered nor needed for Vamp to work.

No, its all done by CPU (080)

Its matter of BitTorrent client, magnet link.

Either magnet link on website is dead and dudo,
or Torrent has been removed (I opt for second, since
its not findable via Torrent Serachs either)

Hello ALL.

No more need CF for ApolloOS!

You can read IMG image with WinUAE.

On WinUAE (load with ADMIN MODE), you go on "CD & Hard Drives"
From here, go on "Add hardfile... " and on PATH select your ApolloOS IMG.

When you start emulation, ApolloOS is loaded. yes ?
If yes, we can continue.

Press F12 for back in WinUAE config, and on "CD & Hard drives", go on "Add hard drive".

When you are on "Add hard drive..." click on Hard drive and let's the menu unwrapping and after select your hard drive or SSD.
Caution!!! The hard drive you want use, must be OFFLINE with windows! Not used by windows...

When is done, RESET on WinUAE and let's loading ApolloOS.
When ApolloOS are loaded, with HDToolBox you can find and partionne your futur AmigaHD with ApolloOS.

When your hard drive is partionned, just copy ALL files from "System" and "programs".

After all files copied, you must rename the HardDrive for AMIGA "System" for bootable partition and "Programs" for all apps ApolloOS.

Sorry for my bad english :-(

My config for WinUAE are:

ROM kickstart 3.1 40.68 A4000

CPU FPU:
68060 Fastest possible
JIT
CPU Internal

Chipset:
AGA

RAM:
Z3 1Gb

Expansion:
Accelerator Board Settings : Phase 5 CyberstormPPC

My WinUAE config with all ROM for starting: EXTERNAL LINK
Load A4000PPC3HD and enjoy.

So, I have an 32GB CF and it seems to work with it. I mean the CF should be ok.
Where can I download the Apollo_OS? Only dead ends and nothing works. Is it ok to use only one partition on the CF?

The magnet link above should work I would assume. I know I am seeding the patched version (and have been doing for a long time).

Thanks for your answer, but again... where can I download it? I went to that link and searched for

  ApolloOS_CF32GB_r40P.rar
  and
  magnet:?xt=urn:btih:A21C6D0FCFA045216005CDDDA9BA238B43FFC64B&dn=ApolloOS_CF32GB_r43P.img&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.opentrackr.org%3a1337%2fannounce

I installed BitLord (and I really dislike to do that) and found nothing. There was a possibility to get the first one, but without seeders... no way.

I don't want to be mean, but sorry this is crap. The card was expensive and it is not possible to get the software? Only on Torrents?? Would you buy a car without a steering wheel and without the chance to install one? Everything should be on the website.
