Personally I don’t want Linux on my Vampire V4. I do enough Linux at work. I haven’t even set it up on my X5000.

While I dont see the value at all in running linux on the Amiga, porting some command line tools and utilities might be handy ala windows Cygwin ..

Turning on my Amiga it is just a funny hobby. I expect to see better Amiga compatible hardware, different AmigaOS-compatible OSes and several enhacements, but keeping what makes Amiga different from all the “trash” we use daily.

This is precisely the type of argument that makes me cringe about the Amiga community.

Cringe? I don't think I wrote anything that may produce that effect on anybody... "Trash" is used with quotation marks ironically and intentionally, never adding emphasis. You can check by yourself.

The "Amiga" (As well as all compatible systems) approach the concept of user and computer is what really makes it different, from my POV. I tried to say I really praise and enjoy the Amiga because it is different to our current computers. 15 years using Amiga professionally, so I wish it was the current standard, but it is not...

Just what this thread is about: Not having/promoting excessive unrealistic expectations.

Don't we have this on Amiga since 20 years?

I think he means it would be useful to port some cmd tools. For instance, I think it would be nice to have a recent port of OpenSSH client and SCP.
