use my amiga-gcc and all is fine^^

as a matter of fact i have installed the docker toolchain marlon provided in order to cross test the code im trying to sync between aros and the other amigalike platforms inclusive the genuine amiga. things like scalos, vpdf, a number of mui classes and so on. i have successfully compiled some parts but couldnt manage the additional libs and headers so havnt been able to link those.

i fear i would fail miserably on a hog like odyssey, doing it all alone.

For me, AMIGA OS is in its internal design an adorable mix of
  - very modern ideas (datatypes, boobsi)

agreed, however boopsi will be limited in eyes of many who already in the past felt a need to replace/extend it with mui, reaction or whatever toolkit came in fashion including zune as mui clone. aros implements boopsi classes and datatypes as you probably know.

  - extern slim and elegant design
    (WB fits on 1 floppy)

as you know aros can boot froma floppy to workbook. wanderer requires more space, just as os3.9 did, which came on cd.

  - very fast

that needs work, sure.

  - not cluttered with endless layer of abstraction

thats understood, but the design decisions need to be discussed between real developers. i would love more scalability, but it may happen that not everybody's requirements are to be met, its a mater of compromise between effectivity and features.

and improve based on has it today - keeping its design ideas and keeping its spirit.

i think that sums up the goals of aros experiment (research os?)

I would like to see that the external RTG chunky solutions are merged back into graphics in an AMIGA fashion way and that planar
and chunky screens will more smooth together.

imho thats how aros tries to proceed. however maintaining some undocumented elements such as compatible monitor files simply dont seem possible or worthy. thor said the same years ago when i asked him if he had any documentation he could share.

wawa,

yes I fully agree the design goals in AMIGA-OS and AROS are much closer than in AMIGA-OS and Linux, or AMIGA-OS and Windows.

however the posixc link library provides certain linux compatibility as it was always attempted on amiga among others with ixemul mess, nor built into the system.

A way to merge 3.1 (or 3.1.4) speed and compatibility with Aros is AfaOs EXTERNAL LINK  AmikitX uses AfaOs and it's stunningly beautiful.
An AmikitX specifically developed for vampire cards will be killer

This was a stupid idea from the beginning.

As usual, "anywhichway" to extend OS 3.1,OS 3.5,OS 3.9,OS 3.1.4 ... abilities is most welcome :)

AfaOS and Magellan as WB replacement/modular integrated file manager are best I have experienced.

Verry verry nice! looks great and with plain OS 3.9 or even (Why?) OS 3.1.4 makes a nice legal round combo!

Hi "Amiga User"!
Why don't you use your nickname "AMIGASYSTEM" like on eab and other forums?

Likely people opt to register differently.

Yes, I can confirm most of AfaOS videos on Tube, are on Amiga System YT Channel
      EXTERNAL LINK
------------ Tested in UAE, not on really Miggy!-------------
Test it in UAE first! (easier to setup!, Amiga install is bitchy as usual and more
-----------------------------------------------------
    Requirements:
    - Download 438MB RAR and unpack it on PeeCee to get HDF
  - You will have to use UAE and some tools like
EXTERNAL LINK  EXTERNAL LINK  to install everything to a real Miggy HDD/SD Card. Your choice and wisdom.
    - AMIGA Real FPU/CPU 060 - RTG Video Card(not tested)
    - WinUAE FPU/CPU 020/030/040+JIT 256RAM UAE Zorro III 256 MB RAM
    - Minimum 2GB HD/HardFile Space
    - Initialize HD/HardFile formatting with SFS/PFS Filesystem
    - Full Installation OS3.9 + BB1/BB2 (Update ROM) /BB3/BB4
    - On OS 3.9 Installed, delete "all" the contents of the SYS:WBStartup folder
    - On OS 3.9 Installed, delete SYS:Utilities/Amplifer

    - Copy all the content of the Hardfile "AfA One.hdf" to HD OS 3.9 overwriting everything (use a fast system)

    - Install MUI Key (to get the right MUI settings on your applications)
    - Copy File Kickstart 3.1 (Rename "KickStart31" ) to SYS:Devs/Kickstarts/ (this will move the windows out of the Workbench screen). Likely, on real Miggy minimum is KS 3.1 softkicked or in ROM.

------------------Download now 1.2 if you are ready-------------
Download link for v1.2 for brave enough to try

Because the apollo-core forum did not accept a unique name :(

It can also be installed on Vampire just need to make some changes, here the user Steffest managed to install it even if he still has some problems to solve.

Could you do "+080" archive WITHOUT these:

That AmiStart toolbar is pushing it a bit and sometimes crashes when accessing the right-click settings, but temporarily lowering the resolution and removing the WB backdrop seems to fix that.

At least until its fixed from either side :) In future some SAGA RTG drivers could be included :)

Its a very nice advance from OS 3.5,OS 3.9 not to mention default OS 3.1,OS 3.1.4 look and feel.

Could you cooperate with BestWB that some its feats are included (and vice versa, why not?) plus ajusted to smoothly working on Vamp, even if its feature removal.

Seems OS can advance! :)

About AmiStart i have no idea what it could be, i don't have a Vampire and i can't do Test. You tried to replace the MMULib (they say that the Vampire doesn't work well) tried to temporarily disable the WBStartup.

Yes, do a version with no mmu lib used or installed. Then it will be vamp testable.
What about crossover with BestWB?

1.  We are nostalgic.
2. Amiga should advance.

Besides, I remember one related (and thus fun) thread on AmigaWorld.Net:
