I did my best in following all the instructions to install the vampire card on my Amiga 600 when i power my Amiga i get the logo screen but it  would not boot into my cf card. Im using gold 2.8 and Apollo OS R43, I burned the image file on my cf card earlier today.

It has been over 20 years for me since i used an Amiga, I would appreciate any help from this great community

Here is a photo of my setup

What do you see on the AMIGA RGB out?

I have seen it stuck on that screen quite alot when the card is not seated on the CPU properly. I notice on your photo you have no fixings holding the card down.

Check as Gunnar said and see what you see on the RGB output.

I would also suggest re-seating the card. Make sure to clean the contacts on the socket and CPU before hand. If you have the fixings, then fix the card down.

Also, as mentioned in the FAQ on the Wiki page, sanding the socket down will also help with the connection if it has not already been done.

You may also need to perform the capacitor mod to your card, this involves adding an extra capacitor to C3 and C6.

Info on sanding the socket (to improve connection) and the capacitor mod can be found here....

Alternatively give the x10 core a go. Though if you cannot boot then you will need a blaster to flash it.

r43 you're using is also quite old, I'd considering download r51 that has been around for some days

It should still boot regardless of the ApolloOS version.

Check the RGB output, see what it is outputting and go from there

Are you sure that your CF image is 100% correct?
Can you boot from Floppy?
Can you enter EARLY BOOT MENU?

Make sure your monitor is capable of displaying a 15khz amiga RGB signal .. you might need a scart adaptor or some other upscaler if your monitor doesn't work with the old amiga rgb video signal.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for your replies

I really appreciate it!

I could not boot from floppy, what I did is I insert the floppy disk after the vampire logo goes on, I hope this is the correct way to boot from a floppy disk with a vampire card.

Cf card: I downloaded a torrent with R43 image and burned it on my cf card using Win32 Disk Imager under fat32 format. (I hope this is the correct way!)

Early boot menu: now this the weirdest part, when I click both buttons on my tank mouse all I get is black screen, no vampire logo appears I tried the same thing with RGB and I get the same result (black screen), I restarted my amiga and without clicking both buttons on tank mouse and vampire logo would appear on (DIGITAL-VIDEO)

I also noticed when i power my amiga using rgb, one thick horizontal blue line  would blink for 1 second before going to black screen.

I'm using all original commodore parts (mouse cables power supply monitor (1048s) and they all work perfectly on my other Amiga 1200

Perhaps something is wrong with your A600 .. have you tried it without the vampire and just a stock 68K cpu?

What about trying the composite mono video output.. do you get any kind of picture with that using a composite video connection.. (again try without the CF card)

That again sounds about like the issues I was originally having. Would suggest removing the card, clean the pins on both the socket and CPU. Inspect the pins and make sure none are damaged (mine had two which were slightly squashed)..

Also if the socket has not been sanded down, then I would also do that, as per the FAQ on the Apollo wiki.

Those two things alone sorted most of my boot issues where I was just getting black screen and stuck on boot logo

Thanks you for your reply

I did all what you mentioned above without any luck, I'm going to try it on another A600 tomorrow

can this be a cf card issue?

I believe even without the cf card, the vampire should boot into its own kickstart version, is that correct?

Thanks

I have managed to get it to work by replacing the motherboard. My amiga 600 motherboard appeared to be faulty.

No problem with my vampire card so far works great!

Thanks everyone =)
