The reason is simple.

You can ran the SDCard interface from 0.5 MHz to 40 MHz.
This speed range is wider than some devices support.
In other words allow you to over clock the speed - if you want to.
The SDCard interface speed is relative to the CPU clockspeed.
IF you change CPU clockrate you might want to re check your SPI speed setting that you not accidentally overclock the card.

Good to know, thanks for the information!

Also, for anyone else just trying out SDNet, I can confirm that the full duplex mode seems to work quite well. Downloads can be a little bursty, but I'm now able to reach upwards of 120,000 characters per second with iBrowse downloads.

I got it to run (Plipbox). Shame on me...as I had to install Roadshow again, I forgot to adjust the Default (Gateway ip) of the "routes" in System:Devs/Internet/routes!! Now, it is running perfect!!

Hey guys...due to several freezes with Coffin, I switched back to Apollo OS, cause ibrowse and Aweb just gave me always freezes. Now with ApolloOS and Gold 2.7 it runs fine, but Apple/Mac emulation does not work anymore (start, but ends with a black screen and a cold reboot is needed). Maybe I get this fixed somehow...or somebody has the same failures with Gold 2.7.

I use the Plipbox on A500 with NOBURST option and it works for me but now mp3 radio streaming is more difficult. With core 2.5 it was possible to play interet radio in background but now with NOBURST it seems there is not enough bandwith left. When I do nothing on the Amiga and just playing the radio everything is fine but if I do something the audio begins to hang.

It would be very  nice someone from Apollo Team could take a look into that problem why the BURST with plipbox is not working anymore. It seems there is something with the parallel port and timings?

I dont want to use the sdnet because I use the sd card slot as data storage and besides the plipbox it is no other way to go online with the Amiga500. Sadly the Vamp500 has no build in ethernet port.

I think the problem of the Plipbox is a pure software problem  and NOT related to the Vampire at all.
Users of 68060/68040 and 68030 CPUs have reported the same or similar issues with Plipbox. That the driver sometimes gives issues is not related to the Vampire.

The V500+ actually has an expansion port for network.
Drivers for this are in the making right now.

thank you Gunnar for the fast reply. Thats the first time I hear about a network adapter and the expansion slot. Very nice :-) is there some more information about that available?

On the top right area of the V500+
you can see a connector with the label "IO-EXPANSION" written above it.

WIFI and Cable-NETWORK expansions are in testing for it.

That sounds good and it is hope to have network and sdcard at the same time. I will patiently wait for that feature :-)

Re. WIFI, is that using the ESP8266 board which was shown installed in the V500 a while back? Because I got one of those boards a long time ago, but without a driver it's not doing much good.. If that driver is incoming, then that is very good news. :-)

Real nice expansion headers use, that will finally bring Internet to Amiga 500 (alongside Artis Netsurf ports :-)

I update V600 core to GOLD2.7 4906 2018-03-02.
The problem, only mouse pointer red color, everything else black&withe(gray scale), including splas screen.

Dezsx:
Maybe your vampire serial is not registered. The registration is mandatory to upgrade over 2.5
EXTERNAL LINK  And after registration you have to wait a new update of the core (2.7.x)

Does anybody has freezes with IBrowse2.4 and Coffin?
I experienced since Gold 2.7 Problems with the MAC Emulation Software and Ibrowse2.4. After execution of the Emulators or 1-2 minutes using Ibrowse the Amiga freezes. It's a pity as everything Looks actually great since Gold 2.7!!

Update: with Gold 2.8x10 it is quite better, but still Mac Emu does not work. But Ibrowse does not freeze while I am writing this. Often it freezes, when I used the scrollbar with Gold 2.7 or Gold2.8x11

You have a V600, right?
Did you apply the CAP fix on the V600?
