Answering "what type of games are you wanting exclusive on the Vampire?" that popped out on Discord Vamp general discussion

What kinds of enhancements Vamp could bring?

  3D Isometric
  --------------------------
Would love to see "spiritual successors" to Activision 1991 title "Hunter" and Thailons 1991 "Trex Warrior: 22nd century gladiator".

  Hunter 1991 Longplay
  EXTERNAL LINK
  6 min Trex Warrior
  EXTERNAL LINK
Also, old Xybots
EXTERNAL LINK

Racing in different way  add multiplayer via Internet :)
  --------------------------

Out of racing games - Roadkill AGA and VirtualGP CD
also SuperSkidmarks  Maybe CHASE HQ 2 :)

No more Outrun and Lotus clones ...

A good number new stuff did come out.
Out of my head: Tuned GFX drivers, Tuned Jpeg datatype, RIVA video player, MilkyTracker, DIABLO, Heart of Darkness, SONIC, NEOGEO Emulator (200 games), Westnoth, Jake and Pepe, a number demos ...

I probably missed many.

"Jake and Pepe" is a brand new Amiga game developed directly and only for the Vampire. It uses AMMX for fast game play and will only work on an Amiga with 68080 CPU.

"Riva" uses heavily 68080 AMMX for fast Video playback and uses the 16bit Audio channels. The new versions only run on a Vampire.

The JPEG Datatypes are developed using AMMX for fast decoding and will only work on Vampire.

The new Milkytracker uses 16Bit Arne audio chip of the Vampire.

"DIABLO" is the Amiga port of the famous game for Amiga and heavily uses AMMX for smooth gameplay. This version needs A vampire to run.

NEOGEO Emulator heavily uses AMMX for smooth play.
It requires AMMX and will not be playable without a Vampire.

A number of new 3D demos use directly AMMX and need a Vampire to run.

SONIC is a brand new Amiga remake of the famous game, and heavily uses AMMX for fast game play. It makes good use of the new instructions of the 68080 and is not playable without a Vampire.

In my book these are ALL new developments for Amiga
which make good use of AMMX for performance.
They are written directly and exclusive for Vampire.
They will NOT run on older Amigas without AMMX.
And they were either completely developed new from scratch or major parts of them were new written from scratch using AMMX.

Don't you agree that these are all software newly written for AMMX?

Every development is good. Riva and few datypes also support AMMX.

Its mostly coming from few authors and Vampire team, maybe some extended developer documentation would help. ASM orientation in 080 MMX support is also a limit.

Somewhere on roadmap I believe is a GCC. Then maybe more open source ports will be avail.

These days mostly shooters and platformers are really new old school games that appear, and that is a bit boring.

So its good we will have Sonic from Sega ported, but its in same line of platformers.

I equally remember Amiga glory in adventures, racing games and especially 3D isometric games like mentioned Hunter or Trexx Warrior (Robocop 3D, Another world ...)

Sadly, there are no more Amiga studios, just individuals and small teams, so expectations should not be high.

GCC compiles good for Vampire
And the new GCC version is already able to use some instruktion Exclusive to 68080 CPU.

There is going to be an AMOS Professional version released that works with most of the Vampire specific enhancements... Maybe even AMMX!!!!

Can't wait for Vampire 4 RPGs*!!!!!!

DIABLO is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes, In recent AMOS news
    EXTERNAL LINK
    In comments
AmiDark mentions he will add SAGA support in future releases.

    P.S.
And I agree on turn based strategies.
Battle of Wesnoth is also somewhere on map, nice Battle Isle hommage, but I prefer it a bit more complex (Civ3, XCom TFD, History line ...)

Let the devs know when its publicly avail. I am sure it will drive more open source ports of both games and apps. Good news for my dev version of V4 I just obtained from Jan. Its interesting model that has 2 core select jumper, nice touch and needed some power fix back in days. He even sais Gunnar and team used it in early development :)

Where from we can get:

Diablo MMX - Aminet one is ordinary m68k
NeoGeo MMX
194x Vampire version

Why do you say that on aminet is ordinary m68k ?
It's an AMMX version.

Thanks Arti, did not notice that nice readme line. Sometimes is not very obvious, only reading readme files helps.

ASM + AMMX optimisations are done by BigGun (Gunnar von Boehn)

I see the same for Diablo on your website

The Amiga port was created by Artur Jarosik and Marlon Beijer. ASM & AMMX optimization by Samuel Devulder.

    Zelda ROTH also uses it?

So, your wordpress page is for now closest to Vampire central for games :)

Similarly, latest Eagle Player has small but important claim in readme that it supports V4 16 bit sound

    - Pamela Amplifier
      - 16 Bit audio output plugin for Vampire V4

(I see Pamela is now called Arne)

The GitHub code seems to state it is for linux.
Does the same code just cross-compile?

I did post a quick work in progress concept for a possible Vampire game in the Discord (not sure how to post here?)
