| Really, really smooth, it's an excellent result. At a glance seems faster than on any 060 I've seen it (Surely faster than WinUAE JIT on my gaming PC)

| I don't use emulators so I couldn't do a comparison test, but BREATHLESS on Vampire was certainly the best result I got on Amiga for this game...

| This looks great! I've tried running Breathless on the Vampire V4 Standalone, unfortunately with less success so far. It's clear that it is not anywhere near using the full capabilities of the system. I've tried running it in a relatively small window (192x120, I think?) and at 2x2 pixel mode the frame rate is passable. At 1x1 it is practically a slideshow. What's more, I'm only able to run it once. After that, the icon doesn't seem to work any more - there seems to be a new folder created entitled "game" which contains a file "Breathless". This seems to be an executable file, but it does not work - the screen momentarily goes black before returning to desktop. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

| have you pressed "F12" to disable Turtle_Mode?

| Yes, I tried that - it didn’t seem to have any effect. F11 did toggle scan lines, so I a bit mystified as to why it didn’t work. I suppose I could try to edit the prefs file for WHDLoad so that it defaults to full speed.

Use the 060 Version and add "Cache" in the WHDLOAD-Breathless Icon. The Result seems better

| Thanks Pierre. That works perfectly! With the cache option set, and with Turtle mode enabled by default, pressing F12 makes a world of difference. It is genuinely playable with the screen size set to maximum and pixel width of 1x1. This is genuinely what I had hoped to see, a supercharged Amiga. I had to run it from the command line - I couldn't work out how to add the command to the icon as you suggested. But CLI works well enough for now.

| Iain, if you right-click on the icon, click on the 'Add' button, you can add items to the WHDLoad profile for that game. You may see others there, to give you an idea of the syntax. Here's a link to the list of the various things which can be added or changed related to launching a WHDLoad install

| Many thanks for the further advice, Tim. I found that what worked was right clicking and selecting the "Information" option from the menu, then adding "cache" to the ToolTypes list using the "New" button. This makes the process of running Breathless a great deal less hassle. It is genuinely quite playable now! However, I don't suppose it is fully taking advantage of the Vampire core. I have tried a similar approach to other games that were performance limited on old hardware. Notably Frontier, which runs amazingly well. In fact, I've been trying out all sorts of 3D vector-based games - that is probably worth a thread of its own, though.
