Blizzard DIABLO On 68K - the Race for FPSpage  1 2 3

Diablo from Blizzard
is originally a PC game with minimum requirement of VGA GFX card and Pentium CPU.

The game was ported to AMIGA - and runs very good on VAMPIRE.

It also runs very fast on Vampire, usually around 20FPS or more.
It runs actually faster and smoother on Vampire than on the typical Pentium 90 PC is was coded for.

Now some 68K experts take a look at the code to make it even more smooth on AMIGA/Vampire.

Stay tuned for updates and more speed coming soon

The DIABLO PC game was coded for x86 = Little Endian.
The 68K CPU is a Big Endian.

The Diablo port we have is based on the Little Endian game version.
This means there are hundreds of places in the program which do it "wrong" in the game for Big Endian CPUs. Each of them needed to be located and fixed.

This is what the DIABLO 68K porting team around Marlon and Arthur did. This porting was done step by step.
One bug fixed after the other.
And they released during this work daily a new version which got better and better.

Now that the porting/fixing is fully done.
Tuning and making it the smooth game even faster is the next step.

The 68K porting team has their own IRC channel.
Its a good idea to Visit their IRC channel and get yourself the lastest version.

  Hope it Can reach 24fps.

Also, hope for aminet general m68k download as well as some 080-ammx tuned edition for extra juice

Hope expansion will be included later, as well as community addons and fixes.

Its a bit of retro hack and slash killer title.

When Done why not diablo2 for v4 ... And dont go for diablo3. Go for Titans Quest / downgraded Grim Dawn once 3d Is avail, as proper expansion of concept.

I'm just curious, are we talking about general 68k optimizations or Vampire specific ones? Great work anyway!

Does the game take advantage of Paulina for better sound?

Paulina is Paula's little sister. Pamela is her big sister. :-)
