Thank you, Jesus :-) (I know its Hesus, but for the sake of all Christians, it sounds good :-)

While its interesting to see titles that have "not make it to Amiga era" (as MacOS Classic continued to live on some more), my own excuse for Fusion is early productivity software otherwise unvail to AmigaOS - such as PhotoShop 4, Illustrator etc. Bringing fast emulation of MacOS 9 could bump it to very satisfactory Photoshop 7.

Os9 would be interesting, having said that that, it is fully ppc. The last 68k MacOS was 8.1 (and if you count 8.5 that has a 68k booter, and the rest ppc being written only for ppc accelerator cards in 68k machines)
Unfortunately MacOS 8.1-68k missed out on the cool features of 8.1-ppc eg ufs and hfs+ .
I hope I can run fusion/MacOS on v4 and take advantage of larger resolution and video speed, better sound etc..... Willing to pay for updated fusion drivers etc.
Nothing beats 68k Amiga with fs support, USB, and power+speed. :)

Which videomode do you use in Fusion? p96directXL does not work here. Thanks

I'm trying to get this running with a similar setup but the game crashes with a Type 3 error (sometimes it says "Numeric Overflow") as soon I use the mouse or try to turn left or right with the keyboard at the start of the game. Any ideas?

Try using Shapeshifter instead AFAIK Fusion is no longer directly supported by team as it has been pulled from the internet and is no longer available for purchase or download. I still have my disk copy that I have used all these years.

Ok, I will continue in this thread.

I want to play this game on:
    Amiga 500+ (2 MB chip)
    Vampire A500 V2+ rev 2.2
    Coffin r54
    GOLD2.12

To play i used default installed Shapeshifter with OS 7.5.5. But, after game loads and do some moves (left, right, fire,...), game hangs with error 10, or something.

  EXTERNAL LINK
I try run "ForceATTN" before start Shapeshifter (it starst with soft FPU). Game hangs too.

Anyone know what I must do to play this game with my configuration? Thanks.
(The screens with best practice config for Shapeshifter or Fusion may help.)

I confirm Dark Forces hangs both on Shapeshifter and Fusion. I think it's an Fpu issue too as Mauel Jesus did his video when vampire had no Fpu

I try use VControl to disable FPU (vcontrol FP 0), but after autorestart still FPU is detected.
I dont know, maybe something in coffin starup FPU enable it again, or vcontrol doesnt work :-)

Wasn't it Jim Drew who pointed out this problem?

yes he did. He claims MacOS needs extreme precision FPU.
Promised Vamp optimized EXE, so far, no good.

V4 has such FPU but needs to be utilized differently.

So noFPU OR using ShapeShifter I believe.

Seems any FPU query of software restarts FPU no matter the Vcontrol settings. Disable on startup if all time needed.

The V4 doesn't have the needed precision.

Generally you should be careful believing what Jim Drew says.
Maybe consulting his fan site will give you some info about Jim:

In regards FUSION and Shapeshifter.
I think SHAPESHIFTER is often the better tool.

Jim often rubished Shapeshifter and even posted lies about that the author of Shapeshifter, claiming that he would have "stolen" code from Jim.
I think non of these posts from Jim are true, and he did this only with the intention to hurt the sales of Shapeshifter.

I can't judge whether his statements about the stolen code are true or not. That's not the topic here.

His explanation about the FPU usage in Mac OS and the problems with the precision seems reasonable, though.
Given that fact that the V4 FPU doesn't have 80-bit precision can be a possible explanation then. But I'm not skilled enough to answer that. It just sound similar to the previous discussion.

It relates, as Jim has a proven trackrecord to rubbish others (lie) with false claims.

You have to mind the history here:

Jim praised Vampire over everything in the US.
And Jim presented himself on Amiga meetings as the sole
US sales representative of Vampires.
Jim then tried to bully Igor into giving him the exclusive sales rights of Vampire for the US.
Igor made then clear to Jim that Jim has no exclusive rights.
Then Jim started posting lots of BS about Vampire, even posted nonsense like ARCADE would be much faster then Vampire.

So you have to clearly see the history and intention of posts.

    His explanation was proven wrong.

Anyway regardless of whether Jim Drew is a liar or not, Dark Forces does seem to crash in both Shapeshifter and Fusion. Would like to try and get it working. Any ideas?

The facts from the past:
    - video with playable game is from 7. 3. 2018
    - at this date with GOLD 2.7 (maybe GOLD 2.5) ?
    - fusion version 3.2 (maybe) with MacOs 8.1
    - a game works greate

    Tha facts from now.
A game Dark Forces freeze when:
    - Vampire A500 V2+ rev 2.2
    - use Coffin r54 or r55
    - use GOLD 2.11 or GOLD 2.12
    - Fusion 3.2 or Shapeshifter 3.11
    - MacOS 7.5, 7.6 or 8.1
    - immediately when move to right :-)
    - after few minutes when hold left and fire :-)
    - use "ForceATTN" and MacOS SoftFPU ON/OFF
    - use "fakecpu nofpu 68020"
    - use Kickstart Cloanto 3.X 1200 and "VControl FP 0"

Another two games have FPU issu too (bad graphics and freeze) - Wolf3D and Marathon - but there works ForceATTN, or "fakecpu nofpu".

Somebody claims it's a "proven trackrecord", but I'm not able to judge it and I won't even try.

And I don't see how he was proven wrong on the matter here. His explanations about the different precision levels on WinUAE (no, 64 and 80) and the effect on Mac OS seem solid to me.

It will be interesting to see where the colleague ends up here with the problem.
But assuming that a reduced precision of 64 bit against 80 bit will never bring up any problem doesn't seem to be right to me.
