I am just curious about, why the WHDLoad Version of Colonization AGA Slave works with my Vampire 500 V2+ and Gold 2.5?

Others do not...as what I expected. But that the above works, I was really surprised...any clue?

Likely because it falls back to the ECS version? Not sure, I can launch it, but looking at it in my WHDLoad setup it doesn't exactly say it's AGA or ECS.

Okay, but it says that it is an AGA.slave...have a look on whdownload.com and search for colonization.

Okay looking, it says it's OCS,ECS and AGA compatible, likely it's just running in ECS mode. Both versions listed on the WHDownload.com page seems to have the same GameID, making me suspect all versions are bundled in the same package and it's just falling back to OCS or ECS.

Some games were written to work on all chipsets, and didn’t necessarilly have extra AGA features simply because the devs didn’t think it was worth the extra work that would take, since the A500 was the most popular machine anyway.

Civilization got two versions, but the ECS version works fine on AGA as well. I think moonstone was an example of games that were just slightly reworked to just work on AGA as well, and not have any new features

Yes, simply because there never really was Colonization AGA, its OCS. If it was a really AGA game, you would need to wait to GOLD3. Its "AGA feature" is that uses RAM over 1MB for sound etc. and does faster turn calculation on 020+

Great game, too bad it cannot be played as Indian.

P.S. Shows greatly how Civ 4x4 genre could go "timeline specific-in-depth". Loved way more such campaigns (e.g. Civ III Fall of Rome, Japan Shogun Struggle ....) then overall way Civ4-6 has gone.

There should be FreeCol which would be RTG when compiled on the Vampire, and use the full graphical features. Same for FreeCiv.

While FreeCiv does exist for OS3

I am not aware of FreeCol port for OS3 (as well as for OS4/MOS)

I am sure there is only one Amiga version of Colonization and it uses EHB for 64 colors.
