| That gives a good comparison to Apollo's power, even keeping in mind that neither the FPU nor the Executable are fully optimized, it is good to have a "well known reference" to compare with Thanx

EXTERNAL LINK Pentium 120.

Those comparison are difficult as in Quake for x86 a lot handtuned ASM was written. So comparing a different compile with less handtuned ASM is very biased. Maybe comparing to other 68K makes sense. What does 68060 score? I think Cosmos the other day posted 12 FPS on 68060 for his Quake?Comparing to 12 FPS on 68060, the 31 FPS of the VAMP are a good value.

| For an engineeristic comparison, I fully agree, Gunnar. But fact is, back then almost nobody owned a 68060, so comparing how well a Vampire runs Quake against how it ran on a 060 tells me nothing, mnemonically. But as you tell "Right now it runs like it ran on a P120 back then", all sorts of memories pops into my mind (Old magazines I red, playing Qake on friend's P90, and so on), so I get the feeling of what Core 2.7 is capable to do withiut optimization. Which is great, because it's a measure I can understandThanx again

| HI guys So what’s the setup with gold 2.7 & quake ? On Apollo r43 Quake runs fast with -FPU but crashes , -safe runs great but at a snails pace.. Is cosmos’s version the one to have rather than click boom? Many thanks Mike

You could try Samuel Devulder versions in this tread. Works good on my Vampire 500 core 2.7. Look at page 6.

We ran the normal Click Boom version. I'm not sure why it ran slower for you.

| For those who wanna compare PC and Amiga versions in speed, know that quake doesn’t benefit speed wise from hardware 3d accelerated gfx cards

| That is why Quake is such a good CPU/FPU/RAM Bus/2D Framebuffer benchmark

BlitzQuake use MiniGL/Warp3D so use 3D acceleration Note: some old programs use StormMesa that got bugs that make it fall back to software rendering. See Aminet StormMesa2010 that fix that

It just works for me, is this the ClickBoom version or the one bundled with R48 "Coffin" OS
