You think your demands are achiveable, then do it !

That's a nice advice. Maybe you should follow it and show the people what you have done for the Vampire platform so you can motivate further development.

Surely demanding that Gunnar gives you 080 specific software isn't your maximum?

Glad you asked.
I set up a WinUAE Amiga OS 3.9 environment to start software development in C for the 68k Amiga. Shared my experience and asked for advice how to start best.
CLICK HERE  Gunnar recommends ASM to get the best performance, so I figured out how to use inline assembler in C. My goal is to port my Cortex-M project to the Amiga : EXTERNAL LINK The goal ist to make a shootemup game.
Some help from experienced amiga programmers would accelerate my progress. Or a general tutorial for all interested people would help, too.
The announcement of the V4 decreased my interest of buying a Vampire V2, so I am waiting for the standalone V4 and still use WinUAE. But I still observe the actual  A500 V2 auction of majsta.

I only ask for the recommended IDE/compiler for 68080, I want to create some software by myself. My first impression is right now vasm and vbcc is still in maintenance, StormC is outdated, but no hint what team Apollo is using or recommends. Only Samuel Crow adviced me not to use C.

Battle Chess will also benefit from the faster CPU on the Vampire.  No waiting while the computer decides it's best move.

That's nice

@Markus Horbach: I kind of like and agree with what you are saying. :)

Let the amiga be an efficient productive computer but not necessary a mega-beast without any interest other than benchmarking. Benchmark-only computers are damn boring.

For me, YT showing people really using the Vampire says much more than an picture of sysinfo. Show us how the vampire tickles your mind, how did it helped you produce brand new things that was not available before. Riva's video are a nice start for instance. But I (we?) want more examples. Show us the old A500 running seemlessly a demanding AGA demo to demonstrate what it being vampirized can still do today.

Flype has shown the Metropolis demo running on A600 but with an old FEmu causing slowdowns. How's that running now with latest FEMu ? I know Flype cannot spent all of his time on making YT demonstrations of the vampire. Maybe it would help if more people had access to core 2.7 to testify AGA+FEmu features as well.

BTW: Is there any graphist out there playing with the new 256 colors modes showing a timelapse of his work with the vampire in here? Does GrafX2 perform well&fast on the vampire ?

Pfft. That's nothing. It's even shameful to bring it up. No 080 specific software there. And since I'm an entitled prick, I want you to make a strategy game 'cause I'm a sucker for the genre.
Or in your words: "Show me something that will impress me."

Off to work now, chop chop.

If there is easier way for him out, I always wanted a decent Battle Isles History Line 1914-1918 upmake or continuation. Loved the hexa and historiocal mix, not just future (that can always wait round the corner). There is some already ported Battle Isle like game.

Yes, back in the days when complete industry was behind it,
plus many new comers and real garage success stories, that sadly
were last to defend its honour. Now we have only have few of them left.

But I am quite sure, looking back at hoax succussess like AmigaOne or even worse effort CommodoreUSA, or even hard way like AROS and MorphOS, that even there is some future to it.

A bit more horsepower, core 3 as new "diamond" core, standalone edition beyond more water for the classics, and I am sure Vamps wont pass unnoticed by many, and only more users (market) and more distributors bring more developers in the end. Beside spark of Amiga fire faced with OS 3.9 and 1987-200x tools limit.

Patience, good documentation and Wiki and much will seems to help.

P.S. 080 already won a Battle Chess vs overclocked 060 with FPU and MMU. Game needs to be faster and more chess, but also deserves to be revamped.

I believe, you can code in any Amiga product and get ... oridnary 68k stuff , depending on their OCS/AGA support (RTG/040 to get best Vamp results)

... Or ...  Harcode in portable assambler!

  VASM

-m68080 Generate code for the Apollo Core AC68080 FPGA CPU.

AS example, above mentioned CPUMon is 100% AS EXTERNAL LINK  is optimized, 080 and AMMX

Yup, I plan to support Kalamatee and him to ensure people not only nag, but get news of some more AROS 68k/Vamp and ports advance.

Beside Netsurf being best non AROS web browser, *anyone should enjoz in UAE - 5 min YT EXTERNAL LINK
as of strategies, Arti has already ported
Stargus, RedAlert and Battle for Wesnoth EXTERNAL LINK I wonder if Battle of Wesnoth could be modded/expanded not to just be medivial game.

Why. I second what Markus said.
Expressing those kinds of comments is also contribution.

Could you please add the x5000 result? You just need installed
OS 4.1FE and OWB can download it from aminet (or already save it on an FAT32 USB)? Run bustest size=8m fast and copy/paste results to a text file and then here :-)

Some claim x5000 has lower mem performance then x1000, amongst other reasons.

I'm not being sarcastic. I like battle chess
Actually, Blizzard reinvented battle chess in the World of Warcraft raid Karazhan, where players would take on the roles of the chess pieces, playing against the ghost of the master of the place, who also cheats

There is at least one third party campaign set in space.  If you prepared to put the work in for the sprites you can have whatever type of campaign you want.
