Correct, there is no need for AROS to work on unaccelerated Amigas at all. As long it is compatible with old software on Vampire.
New machine, need OS what develops constantly.

Exactly. Tweaking the core and bringing AROS beyond what we have with Apollo now, is actually getting ready to have nice OS shipped with v4 that would move Amiga forward. Would love to have it official, but some old bats and Vampires disagree because of their profits. Tried to help, but they dont do it.

Would leave "PPC shit" for later, improved 68k OS, getting core 3 and ApolloFPU ready, some 68k apps and games and maybe that Warp3D is all that is needed for short and mid term goals.

Its nice finally there is a place one can say that, plus that there is some truth in.

Also, reminds me of childhood when I read how 68k beats XT, 020 driven Amigas 286 and A3000 and 030 equipped ones could beat 386, that is, until SVGA and Sound Blaster 16 that we were multimedia home comp leaders

I dont see the need to kick sand in the eyes of other people that might enjoy other aspects of computing.

Let pure stats do the talking, support active developers like Arti (only 17 bux per month btw!) and let others enjoy their own choices.

Good times...
Good times...
I remember when my cousine got a 40 MB hard drive for his A2000 and we installed Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, as well as Civilization, onto said A2000, and played alot, alot, and we were so happy, and angels sang in our ears every evening, just to remind us of how blessed we were!

And then, some years later, I got my A1200 that I still have, and I got a hard drive for it, the first time, and my Blizzard 1240 accelerator, with a whopping 16 Megs or RAM (!!!!!!!) I mean, OMG man.

I was truly blessed, and once more, the angels sang in my ears :')

Good times... good times...

Agreed, more walking less talkin.

Arti and Kalamitee deserve more, and we all need AROS 68k and new ports!

I see this only as beginning...

And that's what makes this project so exciting.

Apollo brings new life to old systems and preserves the Amiga legacy. But it is already starting to eclipse that goal.

The challenge is no longer to be the best Amiga...

It's to be the new Amiga.

Because it already IS the best Amiga

While SVGA and sound blaster humiliated Amiga's abilities, TRY AND MAKE IT WORK RIGHT! (Additionally to that, the MEGABYTES and MEGABYTES of overhead to run it just killed the eXPerience.)

I've got over 400 megabytes of stuff in the nVidia subdirectory on my (i7, win-dos7) computer, and who knows how many more are involved with directx and other junk to make my GTX570 be able to print "hello world" on the screen?!?!!!!!!!

Heheheh in the end.......isn't that what makes it beautiful - evil grin -? You need 30 GB to print Hello world!

Aaaaah! Art in it's fullest glory!! - smirk -

You won't see A-Eon posting any official benchmarks for the A1222 or the X5000 anytime soon because the data would certainly impact their sales in a negative way.

X5000 users did recently post this benchmark score for X5000 running SYSINFO

For reference compared to a high speed VAMP2

You are wrong.
SYSINFO does not implement the DHRYSTONE code correctly.
All the values in SYSINFO are wrong.

The reality both for 68060 and 68080 have about 2 times higher performance than SYSINFO prints them.
SYSINFO always was simply work.

The VAMP has in reality a score of over 300 DMIPS

Great results.

I suppose OS 4.1 beta Petunia result (not UAE JIT? or interpreative-exact slowest)

If you wish, I can supply x1000 results.

Can you compile this benchmark for 68k and post the results back here?

I'm pretty sure SYSINFO doesn't run without the Amiga native chipset.

And you are quite right, I forgot its chipset dependent.

To make it relevant, I suppose UAE-JIT 1.00 should be used.
