MIDI 2.0 Makes Pamela Obsolete?

Quote from above article:
The biggest development is the expansion from 7-bit values to 32-bit values. Mike Kent, one of the technical leaders in creating MIDI 2.0, says this is like going from the resolution of a 1980s television to the high-def televisions of today. It means that instead of 128 steps for features like volume, there will now be billions. An area where producers think this might be particularly helpful is allowing for subtle “pitch bend” (see the video below) and controlling how much bass and treble are emphasized in every note.

Pamela supports 8 and 16-bit samples, not 32-bit.

I'm sure it will take time for MIDI 2.0 to become common. So i ask, Does anyone care?

Not reading the article I would say no one should care. MIDI is a control protocol. It's not about audio sampling rates.

The question sounds like if I change from dial-up to ADSL/Cable/etc should I be worried about downloading GIF images since GIF only supports 256 colours.

Just two different things, so I think we're gonna be fine :)

These are two completely different things.

MIDI has nothing to do with samples at all. It doesn't make Pamela obsolete. As a musician, MIDI 2.0 is very welcome.

From the article:
"The new protocol involved years of work from the organization’s volunteers, and getting companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft, and all of the major music manufacturers on board."

Apple... okay. Microsoft... errr? Google... what???
I'm just wondering if I will be allowed to play my instruments while not being online logged in to any silly accounts?
Also wondering how could Facebook have missed this opportunity? :D

"Musicians who played this piece of music also played..."

Uhh then I think I know how this new protocol works:

Every MIDI command (e.g. from the keyboard) is
  - uploaded to Apple iCloud
  - then indexed by Google
  - your computer download that with a Microsoft Windows only program
  - into a docker container which put it to the blockchain
  - which is checked against an online Database of the big music companies if the command consists of a Copyright violation
  - it automatically pays the royalties for all possible musics you would like to play (containing this note/sample whatever) in bitcoins
  - finally the command is allowed to execute

and the big advantage... you do not need this complicated MIDI cables between the devices... just put all to Internet ;)
