this a far more better show than your last pr stunt in front of the camera at ouf party.

  the video was too short,
  not enough questions asked
  not enough infos given

i think your commercial strategy is very good,
  your product is good too,
but maybe you should avoid doing the public relation and stay in the lab, giving tech details on the forums, glimpse of future evolutions of the product, all that is good.
but shy, hastened appearance in front of the camera is not.
you could always work on improving your performance on that point though if you want to persist doing it.
anyway, those two screenshot are a real treat. good work.

oh and 1h long dj crap vid' was lame. imho. with respect.

@all

  dont forget the mflops

  @Gunnar

Great results! So x15 (100+ Mhz) is a new 080 standard? Sweet :)

On the topic of  presentation I do recall V2 world premiere, Igor and 8-bit chip club did a great job at presentation! It was labor of his love too, but somewhat looks like a better PR candidate!

Reminder! (Note:Presentation is in Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian, turn on English subs!) EXTERNAL LINK

I think you're being unnecessarily harsh with your criticism, nor was it constructive. It's easy to dish out the criticism behind a keyboard in the comfort of your own home but it's certainly not easy getting up before a crowd to give a presentation. At least Gunnar tried.

Agreed,

actually i think he did a good job, and handled it in a normal way.

we now have an expected date for the vampire A1200 and probably a stable release gold 3.0 soon

@sean sk
    i think it is constructive,
i gave reasons for my opinion on his performance,
i gave pointers to him in order to ameliorate his performance.

allow me to add a bit more of that:
      - if a speaker doesn't get enough questions he should fill the void himself so the whole info gets transmitted.
      - also while doing so, interviewer gets more time to think of something more to ask.
      - another pointer would be that it is alway a good thing to express the fundamentals, reasons, means and goals of a project.
      - act as if every interview is the first and only one.
because you never know who will watch, and how much of the project and its current situation the viewer will be aware of.

      now, that being said,
if you or others don't like my opinion, it's your right.
it's fine by me. please exercise your right, like i do mine.

edit: to be perfectly honest there indeed was an example of plain negative criticism in my post, it's the one liner i said about the 1h long dj video. that bit wasn't constructive i agree. i could expand on it if necessary but i don't think it will be. it's pretty much self explanatory. just don't do that kind of videos, and if you do reduce it from 1h to 5mn instead.
come to think about it the interview should have been 1h long, and the dj one, 5mn.

Any chance of adding more than 512 MB in the future ?

Also does the IDE port support DMA transfers ?

@Nsklaus

"oh and 1h long dj crap vid' was lame. imho. with respect."

In my humble opinion, man, that is quite disrespectful to the DJ, nobody force nobody to watch, many others just loved that session. And nobody should show so much "crap" comment. You could just keep it for yourself.

Well, Flype, some people just don't like fun, apparently :D

And, may I remind Mr Perfect here, that it was an event called OUFPARTY (notice the "PARTY" part, Mr Perfect?).

I found the concert of "Dj Collins" really awesome.

And that he did compose and made his music on AMIGA/Vamp makes this concert even more cool.

@gunnar

thanks, but,
i think it should be the opposite way around.
of course i may have some questions of my own, but what i was saying was a bit different. i was saying that, in case of doing an interview,
you (or anyone from the team) should try to present the product in a more thorough way.
for example:

start from doing some historic reasoning and review,
what was the situation when you started,
why you decided to build your product,
what were some of the challenges,
what were some of the big milestones,
where does it stands today,
where it could be going tommorow.

then, present the actual product you're demo'ing, technically.
tell when it will be available (approximately) (you did that, good point)
tell how much it's gonna cost (approximately)
thanks everyone,
then you have a good (or better) interview. in my humble opinion.

that's all i was saying.

now, if you ask about my personal questions, it is another story entirely.
but since you offer, here's some things i'd find nice to be discussed:

(standalone related)
- i would questions status of ethernet support, including it's intended speed.
- i would ask about usb support integration at boot time (e.g: will we be able to boot from it?) and it's intended speed.
- any plan or possibility to have rom extention to have usb and ethernet included ?
- i would ask about alternative OSes support, specially aros (and linux a bit too, but specialy aros), since amigaos is in legal limbo since the end of nineties (199x), what are the  progress with them (OSes) lately.
- i would ask tuko do more regulary his 'monthly reports' as in doing them ..monthly.. they are great.
- any plan to support a wireless network usb adaptater ? it would be great.
- any news on "coffin themed" aros distro ? (icaros theme is ugly, coffin theme is great)
- if aros works, is their browser usable too ?
- what is the default frequency planned for standalone ?
- when will next gold3 beta could be expected (approximately)

just from the top of my head these are the few question i could ask.

i'd prefer you see me as realist instead on perfectionist,
because, saying the 5mn interview was a bit rushed and was substancialy lacking meat, is not asking for perfection.
  it's just stating the obvious.
also we where told there would be a somewhat interesting announcement. i just said the form it took could benefit from some ameliorations. i just think it's the way it is. i'm not asking for professional media budget and staff qualities here.
just a bit more meat on the bone, that's all.

and to be clear, i understand you folks are trying to defend gunnar,
but, i too think what he is doing is great. i'm not "attacking him".
i like his project and what he's done. i just want to hear and see more about it. there's some good talks to be had and infos to be shared. this is because i cannot read minds, and i'm following the progress from outside, from time to time. i don't know what you maybe all do. i'm a kind of outsider lurking around the project occasionaly, that's all.

oh and i dislike electronic music, techno and all that nonsense.
i hope that clear up why i disliked that 1h long dj video. to me it's not music.

Wow! So that looks like roughly a 50% improvement in performance over the V2 (based on the numbers in the sysinfo screenshot on the Products page here).

REALLY can’t wait to get my hands on the standalone!!! Really hope we start hearing about places we can preorder (hopefully one here in the USA??? Amiga on the lake perhaps?) soon, as well as an expected price.

Love my V2+ on my A500, especially now that I have the V3 beta on it. But really want the V4 standalone for a smaller, cleaner, modern system.  Having thoughts of building a laptop/luggable setup with it.

Ethernet is currently "Work in Progress".

nsklaus - wrote:

USB Mouse and Keyboard are transparently translated by the HW to original registers.
This means USB mouse can be used with WB 1.2 and from old demos/games.

nsklaus - wrote:

Yes in future

nsklaus - wrote:

I fully agree about AROS.
Linux is not our focus.

Time is always short, and we also spend much time answering question like this.

nsklaus - wrote:

We have plans for this.
And some experimental WIFI support.

nsklaus - wrote:

Dont know

x11 and x12 just like on V2

After the public release of V4SA

The VAMP supports clock rate from x11 to x15

Like 68060 CPU cards were sold with 50MHz CPU but could be over clocked to 66MHz or 80MHz.

Please mind that the screenshots you refer to are from an "overclocked" V4SA.
The official release clock will be lower for safety reasons.
