Gold 2.7/3.0 Progress?

Recently received my vamp 500 V2+ from Majsta (thanks dude) and I'm suitably impressed. Love it so far, but most of all I'm looking forward to output of native screen modes over the DIGITAL-VIDEO connector.

How is progress on GOLD3 coming along for that and are there any videos in the last few days of current performance in these modes?

(pure expectation. Team has set no dates)

Core GOLD 2.7 for v2 and v4 November-December 2017
Core GOLD3 for v2 and v4 incl. Standalone Jan-March 2018

Team publishes monthly reports here, that might be better real
time progress indication. Currently 2.7 is described as "almost ready" and GOLD3 as "in the works".

Both will require registration.

Related to the GoldV3 I have one question. It is planed that I can choose what Chipset to use (the original or the vampire version)? For instance to have a fallback if something in the vampire core is incompatible or just to play a game on the original RGB monitor ;-)

I suppose that for vampire v2 if you want to use the original chipset in your amiga, you load core 2.x. If you want to use vampire chipset you load core 3.x. I think that V4 have the possibility to have 2 different cores to switch..

I don't think it's necessary to keep changing cores if you want to be able to choose which chipset you want to use. For instance if you have an A600 with a V600 V2 and you wanted to use the ECS chipset then you simply output your video through the RGB out. If you wanted to use the SAGA chipset, then you would output through DIGITAL-VIDEO port on your Vampire card (you would need the SAGA/RTG drivers for that). I believe it's as simple as that. Plus you also have the option to disable cache in early startup to put the Vampire into turtle mode.

At the moment, even though I have the SAGA drivers installed, I'm using a standard non-RTG video mode in Prefs and outputting through the RGB ports, thereby using the ECS chipset.

The minute you get AGA in the core all native Amiga signals is not used anymore. Same as the CPU.
Maybe Gunnars will make a sw toggle if possible?
Otherwise you would choose. Core with amiga chipset or one without.

Never heard of such a feat on any FPGA sys.

I believe you are mixing DUAL KICKSTART feature, which should enable
real time loading of any KS after Vamp boots (e.g. quick boot of emuTOS ROM, KS 1.3, 2.x,3.x ... depending on needs)

@Vojin
Yes I was referring to dual kickstart.
I missed the point. It has nothing to do with the core, in fact.

That would certainly be a nice feature, hopefully it is introduced. Thank you for clarifying.

jup, the possibility to toggle between vampire and original amiga chipset (maybe on startup) would be nice and was the reason for my question :-)

The big question is the 2.7 core going to be release Before Christmas or in the New Year.

I believe it's better to hope that the new core comes more stable and ready, rather than sooner ;) wont you agree?
wouldn't it suck if it was released next week and contain bugs and cause lock ups or crashes?

I wholly agree.. if there were problems the anti vampire crowd would rip it apart.. it has to be as near flawless as possible. I'd rather wait.
