Fantastic news, this is a game changer for the Vampires. The inability to boot from SD has always been a bit of a disappointment, requiring the addition of an IDE to CF adaptor, a CF Card and often a CF to USB adaptor for a PC to set it up. Now all you need is a microSD card with a micro to full size SD adaptor to plug it into most laptops for setup, things that can be bought in supermarkets.

Hopefully this will drive the take up of AROS as the preferred OS on Vampires.

This is really great news and great improvement.
While CF as main boot System still makes a lot technical sense, now having the option to also boot from SDcard is great.

So is this now natively booting? Or does it need a drive hung on the IDE like the vampire boot hack?

And is this only Aros, or do we now finally after however many years, able to boot anything from SD?

yes it is natively booting

and it is only aros at the moment (included in aros rom)

Perhaps Alynna makes it possible for AmigaOS too but at the moment only Aros

Would it be possible for the Vampire to patch Amiga OS ROMs with the SD driver boot code at start up or is that beyond scope?

Alynna tried to patch but was not successful
