Nice stuff, Pedro.. :)

Looking forward to the first AROS68K distro where everything doesn't look GARGANTUAN, though... :D

you mean aesthetics? because considering that its highres nolace the size of icons can be choosen smaller but it might then look small on higher res.
im asking because aros can actually scale icons to a desired bounding box, but then it affects all icons.
other than that im designing an 8 color iff ilbm icon set for aros slightly smaler than aros one 48x64px using mwb pens, but need to see if it wont be too grey altogether.
curious what the actual public demand would be, though.

Spartan, I would say, remembering my AEROS and AROS m68k under Amiga Forever. Few colours, similar to OS 3.1 look but not as nice as Magic Icons or Glow Icons or AISS. Maybe getting licence and integrating such and TuKKos Icon set could produce "AROS looking RTG Vampire" distro on boot.

Under the hood it is AROS, just make look brighter, shiny. Like those AmiKit XEs :)

Back on topic, I am glad people do remember Spectrum, as much I am sad QL was such a failure alongside C5 (who dag whos grave? - Sinclair with cheap components and rushing).

In my eyes, Speccy was portable. Could hook to any power plug, TV and cassete player. That made 48k RAM and Basic portable. And that 3MHz CPU could beat 6502 any day - if it did not have custom chips.
Zilog was the real ruler before Motorola and IBM and clones.
East Germans made one of their own powering mighty Robotron with 16-bit CPU and 256KB RAM (8-bit max, maybe Sam Coupe or Russian clones?)  EXTERNAL LINK https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC_1715

Even I had flat n cheap CBM64, seen its might with floppy and modules, I am more of Speccy/QL type, crude n cheap, who happened to fall in love with his A1200 after spending a lot of time with friends A500 first.

To me Amiga was sound/gfx revolution, like nothing before and Hercules/EGA/VGA 286s/386DX even with early sound cards of that time were extremely uninteresting. Who would think clones would win over Atari, Amiga, Amstrad and even Mac in a way of joining them? Home computers die, here comes (in)personal ones ... Until now :)

      P.S.
Congrats on AROS section of forum!

Also, dont be surprised if I ask for native QDOS and Sinclair Basic (seems to exist EXTERNAL LINK ) and 2 QL gfx modes :) Or at least an Amiga QL emulator test

QL files (hard to get as few)

And yes, if you emulated Amstrad, you could try ...
SymbOS

------------------ SymbOS--------------
It was the first time in history: We were able to boot and run the Z80 based multitasking operating system SymbOS on all 4 supported platforms at the same time at the same place:
1.) Amstrad PCW
2.) Amstrad CPC
3.) Enterprise 128
4.) MSX2 (Philips 8280) + MSX TurboR
This was happening on the MSX fair in Nijmegen/The Netherlands 2015. Thanks a lot to Edoz for his great support!

Music: Dead Feelings (Power ISO) by CORE
EXTERNAL LINK  SYmbiosis Multitasking Based Operating System (SymbOS) is a multitasking operating system for Zilog Z80-based 8-bit computer systems
The graphical user interface (GUI) of SymbOS works in a fully object-oriented manner. The look and feel mimics that of Microsoft Windows. It contains the well-known task bar with the clock and the "start" menu and can open up to 32 windows that can be moved, resized and scrolled. The whole system is written in optimized assembly language, meaning that the GUI runs as fast as the host machine supports.

Content of a window is defined with "controls" that are primitive GUI elements such as sliders, check boxes, text lines, buttons or graphics. The background or invisible areas of a window don't need to be saved in a separate bitmap buffer. If an area needs to be restored on the display, its contents will be redrawn instead. This makes SymbOS GUI much more memory-friendly compared to most other 8-bit GUIs.
There are several standard applications available for SymbOS, which most resemble their well-known Windows and Mac OS counterparts. Examples include Notepad, SymCommander (similar to Norton Commander), SymShell (cmd.exe), SymZilla (Mozilla Firefox), SymPlay (QuickTime), SymAmp (Winamp) and Minesweeper.
