Hi Renaud,
It seems I made the same mistake as others, I registered my Vampire as V500 V2 instead of V500 V2+.  Would it be possible correct my error?

Kind Regards,
Mark

Ok, I have a Kipper2k V2 600 vampire (iirc its from his last ever batch). Currently my A600 mobbo is dead.

Its possible to register it, somehow, without using the amiga?

Maybe I'm wrong but from what I know you can get the serial only with a vampire connected to an amiga. A friend with a 600 can help you. Or you have to wait until your 600 is functional (if you have no 600 working you'll do nothing with a functional v600).

Surely i dont need a working vampire without having a working a600, but, AFAIK the "supported" vampire serial numbers are updated with each core release, that means that if i got a working A600 the next day Core gold2.8 is released... I have to wait maybe a month, maybe a year for the next Core (3.0?) gets released which should include my serial number?

It seems a bit unfair and weird IMHO

GOLD2.7 has been released on 02.03.18 and updated two times again after with new serials since today's GOLD2.8 release.

What the wait that long ?

Can you help me a bit regarding the registration process? I just received my Vampire 500V2+. I don't know yet which core it contains.

How do I retrieve the serial the quickest and easiest way?

  - Should I flash Coffin R51 (only version I have) to a CF and boot from it and, I assume the serial number tool is part of Coffin, retrieve the serial? Or will I run into trouble as maybe Coffin R51 does not work on a pre-2.9 core? That would be a bit of a catch 22 then...
  - Or should I simply boot from a workbench floppy and run the serial retrieval tool from another floppy?

Where do I find more info on what core to use? x10 (EXE, JIC), x11 (JIC)? Do I understand correctly the JIC files require a USB blaster and the EXE can be done from AmigaOS? When an update is released containing my serial, is that an incremental update that already requires 2.9, or can I update straight to that version?

Thanks in advance for answering my vampire n00b questions.

Download and run EXTERNAL LINK  Take your serial no!

Fill this form EXTERNAL LINK
You can continue using current core with OS 3.9 until next core release (not 2.10, it can be 2.9 with updated date and buld), flash it, and use latest cores and Coffins from that date on.

Yes, JIC is USB blaster only (also downloadable here CLICK HERE ) and include safe and experimental cores. Its good to have USB Blaster and read its flashing guide EXTERNAL LINK

This Wiki is source of knowledge EXTERNAL LINK

OK, thanks, so instead of a 3.9 system I could just take a bootable floppy with the serialnumber tool as well, correct?

I'll wait till an updated core before I do some real Vampire playing then.

Yes, just boot to shell and execute tool there

You can start using 2.9 cores now, DIGITAL-VIDEO will just have b/w display. Cores up to 2.5 dont have this limitations either

Simplest way would be to contact Renaud Schweingruber here, via e-mail, on facebook ... with serial, quick info on old owner and all reg info on new one.

The new owner can just put their new details in with the existing serial. Am I missing something?

write me at renaud.schweingruber@gmail.com with all your details

/!\ ------------------------ /!\

By the way, I take this opportunity to announce that we will close REGISTRATIONS at end of June

All new cards sent by majsta are automatically getting into the whitelist and most people with cards registered as needed before.

Closing registrations will definitely kill any future clone cards.

No, he cant do that since serial is taken. He has to contact a person, as suggested.

Thanks for the info Renaud, though I take it that if the registrations are being closed and the cards already registered then there is no reason to update the details?

In shell type:

>vampiretool serial

vampiretool is part of the SAGA Drivers package.
