| I am having an issue that make the screen go black when there are harddrive activity or other stuff that drain Power. It seems that this occur when I'm using higher resolution than 800x600. At 720P its like on off all the time. I'm thinking of getting an ATX Power supply. Those are rather cheap, but are they difficult to adapt to the Amiga? They can deliver a lot more amp than the original supply.

| Here are some nice guides http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/amiga_hacks/Amiga_Power_supplies/amiga_power_supplies.html#ATXPSUHmm, is it a 2.5" IDE A600 drive or something else? As far as I can go back in time, my A1200 needed extra power for 3.5" HDD and CD-ROM, at least IDE devices supplied from an ATX power supply. Original 2.5" drive and 020/28 FPU FAST RAM accel card made no trouble, so should not even the Vampire.

| I like the Meanwell PSUs (be sure to pick the right one). Small, sturdy, no tinkering required and fit the plastic case of the Amiga PSU.

| I used Ian's pico adapter on that page and it worked like a charm. Just make sure to get an authentic pico power supply. There's a lot of low quality clones out there.

I'm pretty sure I got a real Pico PSU as I bought it directly from mini-box, but I had an 80W version that just didn't seem to keep up with the power consumption of my V600. I switched to a mean well supply and stopped getting sporadic DIGITAL-VIDEO screen blanking

80W is plenty for an A600. I assume the Meanwell has a slightly higher voltage in the 5V rail.

| I would try and power hard and floppy drive directly from the PicoPSU if you are running the PSU inside the case.

| I noticed my heavy powerbrick is a bit flaky (the cable). Would a newer lighter A1200 psu provide enough to power an A500 + Vampire 500V2+?

A1200 has the same weak PSU as the A600.

| The VAMP + AMIGA can run stable with a weak AMIGA PSU. But such setup would be on the edge. Especially if you have other consumers added like INDI you run low on power. And as all AMIGA PSU are now 30 year old - we can not recommend such setup.Getting new reliable PSU, like a RT65-B meanwhell would ensure a stable setup.

| I recapped my original PSU, my Amiga600 works very stable like a new computer

Thanks Gunnar! Is there an easy (meaning no soldering) way to connect this to an A500, i.e. is there some adapter cable available somewhere?

AFAIK nobody makes any finished solutions. The MW PSU has screw-terminals, so there is actually no soldering involved. You just need to be able to remove the insulation from the original PSU cable and connect them to the proper terminals. Since the MW PSU is an industrial PSU meant for installation inside another product, it does not have a real case (what you see is only an RF shield on top, but the bottom is exposing high voltages). Installation inside a case is mandatory (the original Amiga PSU case is suitable if you add some spacers to the MW PSU and glue them to the bottom of the case).

| One comment: ATX can work but we should generally NOT recommend to use ATX. Several ATX power supplies work fine with AMIGA, but NOT ALL WILL work fine! Your AMIGA needs with 8-12 Watt only - many ATX PSU are not designed for this "green computing".

| I was using the 2,5 Amp PSU and I did find some stability issues. Switched to 4,5 Amp PSU, problems solved. I had some freezes and the screen would go black every now and than.
