I just signed up for a Patreon account and am now sponsoring Kalamatee.

Come on, let's get him back on his feet.

OK, so patroning per month is a way to go.
EXTERNAL LINK
Signed in, while per month payement of any kind is a bit burden to I, will do my best.

OK, I see its possible to do 1$ a month. C mon people, one piece of a burger or similar less for someones survival, we need to crowd it up!

And you will get whatever man makes in return!

Rewards are Kalamatee's thank you for being a passionate fan:
$1.00+ per month
Solely exclusive content.

Just for your information, its also possible to manually insert whatever your desired amount is. Initially I was wondering if $1 was the only option, but found our you can adjust it yourself.

You can do whatever amount you wish.  And since Kalamatee has done 90% of the work on Final Writer for me I will add this.  For $5 a month to Kalamatee I will include all future Final Writer updates.

Thanks, everyone can scale up to his own economy!

I will joing with few $ next week, everybody try your best

Currently "8 patrons $107 per month"

We need to at least triple that amounth to make it a real aid, more the marrier.

Final Writter updated alone - hopefully coming to OS 3.x Vampires too, is app I do need and appriciate. So I am tempted by your 5$ generous offer, and I hope everyone will follow!

Thanks!

P.S. Spread this "how to" to amigans.net, amiga.org etc.

Just copy pasting a Amigaworld.net post;

EXTERNAL LINK

Nick is one of the most important coders in the Aros community, he is working on SMP, 3D system and a lot more. If we lose Nick then all Amiga flavours suffer because Aros is a great source of code and inspiration for all platforms including the fact that the Vampire is making Aros 68k very relevant with Aros x86 the next step up to next generation with mad performance levels due to SMP and Nouveau 3d support for Kepler and Maxwell cards coming.

Please consider contributing to his Patreon page what you can afford, I have just increased mine as I believe passionately in the work he is doing. He has been working hard for a long time on Aros and doing this will return the favour by helping him now.

EXTERNAL LINK
If we can get him up to $600 per month it will help him though this initial problems, if 50 people do $10 per month, this will go to helping when he needs it most and enable him to continue the great work he is doing.

We are all a community please pull together and help one of the best of us. Please do this as soon as possible if you are able.

Many thanks

Kala made a new post on Aros forum worth reading. It seems like hes in a rather timecritical situation;

Thanks (massively) to those who have sent me donations - I have managed to clear my debts now.

If he likes to continue we could offer him with a free Vampire loaner.

Unfortunately the only Amiga hardware I have available to me is my Amiga 1200 (with powerflyer, blizzard 1230 and mediator sx)

So, while I would love to help make AROS run better for m68k/Vampire - I'm limited in what I can do/test.

The item I need most, currently, is a flashrom replacement for the rom chips so that I could easily test the AROS rom as a real rom replacement, however it seems near impossible to find someone who supplies such a thing.

If you get yourself an Amiga-500, then we can get you a Vampire-500.

The VAMPIRE supports 1 MB Kick.
You can exchange the KICK easily from command line.

Sadly, I just don't have the space for another Amiga system. I will contribute what I can but will have to wait in the hope a Vampire-1200 surfaces some day.

I am quite interested in the hardware but find obtaining detailed specs of what is implemented and how, hard to come by.

Does the vampire expose things via "common" interfaces like i2c? Or just with cutom mmio? Do you have plans to add things like pci-e to the fpga?

Sorry - I should've separated the last question about future plans. I am interested though, in what you plan on doing in the future with the hardware and what is achievable?

For instance, one gripe I and a lot of people have is the choices accelerators tend to give us. Either you have cards which need old/outdated modules (e.g. simms), or have fixed amounts of memory - do you plan on having some memory interface on the cards at some point? Personally I would love to be able to just get some laptop module and chuck it on.

Also the FPGA - are there any plans to make it an upgradeable/replaceable module at some point? What better FPGA's could be used and what kind of improvements could they yield?

My Final off-topic by miles question is regarding the potential A1200 Vampire - I have read about it using a custom shim on the a1200 bus to provide a more common connector for accelerators to use. While I like the idea - it means anyone with a mediator is going to end up with a very ugly stack of such connectors. Would there be any way to include the connector for the mediator bus boards on the interface also?

Added memory slots or FPGA module interface would add to the cost so would only possibly be worth doing on a high end card.

The A1200 expansion adaptor is unlikely to be used for the Vampire from what BigGun and Kipper2k have said.

Right now available are 2 VAMPIRE cards

There are listed here:
EXTERNAL LINK

They provide 128 MB fastmem. Memspeed about 300 MB/Sec.
They provide over 100 MIPS
They provide truecolor video out.

If you want to adapt AROS for SAGA or 68080 then using one of those is the fastest way today.

You asked a number of questions regarding future cards and plans.
As a developer I would NEVER wait for a future card.
For sure commodore did plan to produce an AMIGA 5000 after the Amiga 4000. What would have been when all developers would have waited for the A5000 when the A1000 and A500 came out?
