PAMELA is the audio chip of SAGA.

PAMELA offers
* fully compatible to PAULA
* 8 hardware AUDIO channel
* support for 8bit and 16bit samples
* high quality sample rates like 44 kHz / 48 kHz / 56 khz on any Screenmode (also 15Khz)
* full DMA support, HW Mixing.
* DMA can all access Vampire memory (up to 128 MB for samples!)

Basically PAMELA offers the AUDIO features of the never released A-A-A AMIGA Chipset.

Wow!  Great job Gunnar and team!  Paula compatibility with the enhanced features is excellent :).

IIRC I think Mary had up to 100 kHz sample rate, although I'm not sure what that buys..  56 kHz at least means high quality STE samples would work effortlessly (I think they were either 56khz or 50066 hz or similar)

This sounds great! And an AHI driver would be fantastic.

Will sound from Pamela go through hdmi or normal stereo phono ports?

The stereo audio ports are connected to Paula.

PAM will go out through DIGITAL-VIDEO on Vampire cards.
On the standalone board there could be an analog output in addition to the DIGITAL-VIDEO of course.

But let´s wait for the release of the standalone, then we will see.

Sound through hdmi only? Wouldn't that mean only tv or monitors with speakers?
Unfamiliar with hdmi sound output other than home entertainment.

My Amiga set up uses a soundbar,

I can speak only for my setup. I use an ASUS VK246H monitor with DIGITAL-VIDEO. This monitor has analog audio out connected to my Telefunken Hifi Studio HP 800 from 1985. As far as I have seen mostly all DIGITAL-VIDEO TV/monitors have an analog output (headset out).

- Suggestion: Please keep audio out on standalone, chinch stereo out L/R or in one. Some people do have speakers >:-) HMDI audio out is nice and dandy for those TVs, but they got sound ilussion :-)

- Impression> Yup, real triple A rated!
            ... greatest/best integrated hi-fi :-)

- Question (should be YES automatically, but ...)  Will AHI Paula driver work with (obviously Paula) features out of box and full HW Paula compatibility is retained for Classic games n music titles?A

David - there are also DIGITAL-VIDEO splitters that allow you to pull the audio. There are all kinds of them on eBay for cheap ($10 or less).

Noticed this; http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=1166382#post1166382

This is my fixed version: EXTERNAL LINK
it requires premake4 to create the makefile.

I'm not done with optimizations, so currently it only runs at a decent speed in UAE-JIT 040. Just fyi.

Browsing files inside milkytracker doesn't work either, so you have to load files from commandline. So it's far from usable at this point.

My plan is to "remove" SDL and add in CGX RTG support instead and go straight for AHI myself, in hopes for getting some improvements by removing overhead. I'd like it to at least run on a Vampire accelerated Amiga in a foreseeable future.

More Pamela testings.. Wav files and screen modes.
  PAM does not depend on 15/31Khz screen mode - OK!!!

Some videos of the testing:

Very cool!

Of course as with all audio gear the better gear is definitely revealing the limitations of the source material.

Do any of the mod formats support 16-bit (or higher) samples? Does EaglePlayer play these?

  Should you (by some weird coincidence) own a DIGITAL-VIDEO capable monitor without Sound output, you could always get a DIGITAL-VIDEO to DIGITAL-VIDEO +Audio extractor like this one...

Edit, hm lolz why is H.D.M.I. automagically translated to DIGITAL-VIDEO in the post?
