The problem with the high overclock of the CSMKII 68060 is that the Ram cannot keep up. And this is were the Apollo core really seems to bring a lot of speed and short reaction times in applications that need to access the Ram a lot. If I understood Gunnar correctly, he is trying to see if the SAGA in AGA mode is slowing down the 68080 due to the shared memory architecture.
Olli.

No, not really.

Look here

The shared memory is huge advantage.
The Vampire gives about 300-350 MB/sec mem speed.
Lets say your AGA screen eats 10-20 MB of this.
You still have much more left than all AMIGAs before.

Hi Olli,

It always surprised, no, shocked me that the FPGA can do so much!!! I thought that the way it would have to be done is, one FPGA is the S-AGA/Copper/Blitter, and another FPGA does CPU/FPU/AMMX.

And an aside. Seeing that the CPU is capable of some 64 bit instructions.... was dreaming, is S-AGA or Copper or Blitter able to do 64 bit someday in the future too???

Ah, yes. A matter of scale. At 350MB/sec it does not matter really. :D

Do you have a gfx card in your A4000? if so could you do a P96Speed test in 640x480 16bit and post result here?

Nice charts.  :)

Something is wrong with the WritePixel results. They show x11 core faster than x13?

Looking forward to future core/driver updates that will speed up some of the slower areas (rect fills, blits).

Whats missing is maybe the CPU information. What CPUs do the Systems have?
If you compare a CV64 with another Zorro card, do we at the same time compare 2 different 68K cores?

Olli, I used your Scores from your A4000 to compare the Vampire.

So we compare here Amiga 500 with Vampire using AGA Screen
with AMIGA 4000 with 68060 overclocked to 124 MHz, also using AGA screen.

I added a 3rd column to calculate the "relative" MHz of the Vampire compared to the 68060.

If I did this right then in "average" the A500 on AGA
is as fast as A4000 on AGA using an 68060 at 1400 MHz.

You are correct Gunnar. If we find one person with all types of cards that are willing to test them all on the same machine i will make a new chart. I have just assembled all data that i could find on the net. Some had CPU info most did not. Still it is good to see what other amigas out there have scored. And i will add all that i can get. And if Vampire beats them all. Then who cares what CPU they ran ;)

Did the test 3 times. Still same result. Have no clue to why.

Excellent charts. Thank You!

For me the important thing is to help the Apollo team to see the specific areas, where the Apollo is for whatever reason slower or relatively slow compared to other areas. Although overall the Apollo is very very fast, slow perfomrance in specific area could lead to a "unsymmetrical" user experience.

Olli.

Most values are impressive but the Con-Output is very impressive. This is for me a big part of what makes Classic Amigas feel sluggish".

Would it be possible to add 060/50 column? Because this is usual frequency majority has in their Amigas. I admire reaching 060/124 MHz but its rare and unique.

Also I would like to see how much 060 clock speedup the real AGA.

124 Mhz, I would not say that this is 'a little bit' overclocking :-)

yes, raising the multiplier a couple of steps makes it go under 2 min:
