David, I'm really glad you received your accelerator card because you waited so long! And for everyone else who paid but haven't received a confirmation or anything else  yet we're all in the same boat.

I received a 7-port usb hub from China a few days ago. I ordered it and paid for it about four weeks ago. I was just getting ready to report it as "missing in the mail". That literally gives new meaning to "slow boat from China"! :-)

Michael you just reminded me I never got my flashlights!

It must be over a month ago I impulsively ordered two for $5 from a slickdeals promo.
From Gearbest which I didn't know was chinese. I did get a shipped notice way back but forgot until your post here.

Have to watch the source of some products. Hey it's only five bucks in this case.

Hehe! Sometimes if you have only waited 30 days, it pays to wait a little longer! A miracle could happen on that 31st day! ;-)

But for those of us who are a little impatient, that might seem like forever!

LMAO! What did you pay for in 1994? Talk about slow delivery!

Ok. I've probably overdosed on Hydrocodone due to a recent leg injury and I can't see straight, but something is a little odd here! April 1st, really?

Hi Michael,

I've been insulted and humiliated 1000's of times (since 1997) by people telling me that the DREAM of anything even remotely similar to the Vampires coming out could ever come about....

Even then, IF such an item came out, I was informed by people with "certified knowledge of market and people's desires" who knew with absolute certainty that it would be "impossible" AND a "complete loss of effort and capital" to pursue. An insane folly to attempt.

So, me "waiting" since April 1st, 1994, is in effect me saying;

"I want to buy the successor to the Amiga 4000."

This computer is as though Commodore ceased activity on April 1st, 1994, then began making them again in about the year 2000 or so!!!! So, minus all the glamour of some of the tricks the video cards of that time could do, I say, "works for me".

Thierry, (you make me laugh!) I won't disagree with you in principle at least. I want a successor to the Amiga 4000 and the Amiga 1200 as well. Many people, especially at work, criticise me for using 30 year old Amiga computers too! Civil Engineers think they know everything!

Couldn't you have chosen a better date than April 1st, 1994? You've got me wondering if that's precisely when Commodore went out of business! But I suppose that's appropriate. The joke is on us! Commodore brought us this awesome computer called the Amiga, then they conveniently went out of business! Thank goodness for Vampire accelerators! (Will I ever get used to saying that?) Some say that the Amiga 68k is the computer platform that just wouldn't die!

Perhaps "Phoenix" is a good name for the Apollo standalone board, as in the fire bird that rises from the ashes of Commodore's untimely demise (besides I used to live there)! Yes. We've been waiting for a long time. But fortunately the V600 orders are complete, and now we are on to the v500's then v1200's and v3000/4000... The Amiga Dream is alive again!

Hi Michael,

Not just me then?!! ;-)

Michael R wrote:

Error on my part. It was April 29th, 1994 that they went out of business.
Michael R wrote:

It would have been more logical, for certain.

Michael R wrote:

I know... it's crazy, huh?

Well, that was used for a morphos computer, I believe. They probably wanted to not be confused with that "Amiga branch".

Yes... YES IT IS!!!!!!

These will be on sale for a VERY VERY VERY long time!

If the name "Phoenix" is already taken what about "Firebird"?

Instead of a Vampire logo for the standalone motherboard, imagine a Firebird with wings spread wide dripping red and yellow flames!

The legend of the Firebird is part of Slavic Folklore:
Firebird (Russian: Zhar-ptitsa; Ukrainian: Zhar-ptytsia; Serbian: Žar-ptica; Croatian: Žar ptica; Bulgarian: Zhar-ptitsa; Macedonian: Žar-ptica; Polish: Zar-ptak; Czech: Pták Ohnivák; Slovak: Vták Ohnivák; Slovene: Rajska/zlata-ptica). It is a magical glowing bird from a faraway land with magical properties.

"A modest and gentle orphan girl named Maryushka lives in a small village. People would come from all over to buy her embroidery, and many merchants asked her to come away and work for them. She told them all that she would sell to any who found her work beautiful, but she would never leave the village of her birth. One day the evil sorcerer Kaschei the Immortal heard of Maryushka’s beautiful needlework and transformed himself into a beautiful young man and visited her. Upon seeing her ability he became enraged that a mere mortal could produce finer work than he himself possessed. He tried to tempt her by offering to make her Queen if she would embroider for him alone, but she refused saying she never wanted to leave her village. Because of this last insult to his ego he turned Maryushka into a Firebird, and himself into a great black Falcon, picked her up in his talons, and stole her away from her village. To leave a memory of herself with her village forever she shed her feathers onto the land below. As the last feather fell Maryushka died in the falcon’s talons. The glowing rainbow feathers were magic and remain undimmed, but show their colors only to those who love beauty and seek to make beauty for others."

Isn't Falcon the name of Atari hardware? Maybe Firebird is more appropriate as a name for the Apollo standalone motherboard? And it is blazing fast compared to other Amiga 68k accelerator cards! Besides that it sounds similar to Firebee. Isn't the Rainbow Checkmark also an Amiga symbol? We could draw a few more similarities for "Firebird" in connection with the Apollo motherboard; Firebird is like Cold "Fire" and David said the V500 v2+ cards "come from Igor (Majsta's) house in Bosnia". I think we're onto something here!

With a name like that not only will sales of v600 be successful, but also v500, v1200, etc will sell quickly! Popularity of Apollo products, especially the main board, will catch on like a wildfire!

Seriously, though! Now that orders for v600 are fulfilled and depending on the success of the v500 cards, the popularity of Vampire accelerators is going to really catch on!

Oh what a beautiful day! Just got this message:

      //***************************************************//

"Today is a big day : your Vampire card has been shipped !

Thanks again for your support to Apollo team"

      //****************************************************//

From the UK shipments take 5 to 7 days by Royal Mail.
So 7 days from Europe means I might get the package by Cinco de Mayo! (May 5th).

But from recent stories from others on this forum...let's
See...31 days from now...I might have it on or before
May 23rd. The sooner it arrives the sooner I start programming!

Either way it's still a good day!

Thanks! Just checked Apollo Accelerators website. My order status
now reads: "SHIPPED"! Nice! At least that part of the notification
process works well. It would be great if we also had received a  status of "PAID" or at least an automated confirmation email for the same.

When we buy the V1200 accelerator we'll see if we get that payment confirmation message. ;-)

(Yes! The long wait begins as it crosses the ocean.)

Do you try to make bad tasteless joke?

Vampire is in regular production.
Right now about each month a new batch is produced.

Not sure about the next shipment, but this shipment has arrived! Wow! My first impression when I saw the black box with red logo and lettering, "It's so small, yet so powerful!!". Vampire has arrived.

Best of all, and maybe David Wright was the exception to the 7-day rule, is that my accelerator card arrived on "Seis de Mayo" (May 6th, day after Cinco de Mayo). That's just EIGHT days since the shipment notification! ;-)

The Production, Notification, and Delivery Systems are working great. Production and Delivery for the V500's is much faster!!

Hopefully I'll receive a "payment received" confirmation just after I pay for my new Vampire 1200 V3++? ;-) But we'll see...
