Many people enjoy the new FIREBIRD card on their Amiga 500, already.
..

We discussed in the team to make a version of the Firebird called
SALAMANDER, tuned for the A600.
..
If you like this idea, please tell us..

Here some famous Amiga games from the Past ...
The pics might give you a hint where our Cards names come from.

I have V2 for A1200 and put an order for Icedrake.

I would also buy for my two A600 for sure.

SALAMANDER will be extra board for firebird ?

Yes it should be a small board that replicates the a500 68k socket and plugs with a reversed socket to the a600 soldered 68k.

I can see two options.

1) A special new board, optimally for Amiga 600.
A "sister" board to Firebird.
All the same features, but optimized to fit in Amiga 600

2) A good adapter

We are discussion both options right now.
My wish would be to have the SALAMANDER Q1/2022

If it was option 1, I would definitely get it.

I would prefer option one, a new card for the 600.

I would say an adapter board which can be securely mount to the A600 and a core for the Firebird which supports the Amiga 600

2) A good adapter

There will be no need to design a new board  (saves time)

More convenient for people who own both A500/600 (saves money)

No need to do two different batches when one could fit for both (availability)

Agree, a nice adapter and a "standard" card

I think a dedicated card for the A600 would be the better option overall as an adapter is still just an adapter and there could be clearance issues fitting it into the A600 case.

Adding additional potential electrical contact failure points with an adaptor board to the already troublesome A600 connection sounds like a bad idea to me. It may add additional mechanical stress to the CPU connection with the weight of the adaptor and less than optimal positioning/mounting/support/height. I don't know if plugging in a Fireboard with the A500 core into an adaptor and onto the A600 could electrically damage the card, the A600 or both but it needs to considered also. Waiting for a dedicated A600 V4 accelerator design would seem the better solution.

Agreed! I think asking for the option to have the Firebird with an adapter is a ludicrous idea and only invites more issues, and those asking for it haven't really thought things through. The other issue is that fitting it all under the keyboard is going to be problematic. Look, I could be wrong and I'm prepared to take the flak for it, but I'd rather see a single unit for the A600.

Yes you are right.
The adapter will introduce extra problems.
On the one hand side the height will increase, which could give trouble closing the case. Also a complex construct with adapter in middle will not improve the connection.

I agree that a dedicated solution, might be the better.

For those with a CheckMate 1500+ then height is not an issue. So a Firebird flashed with A600 core would make sense.
