The Apollo Team is working every day to improve the new Amiga experience for you.

Please let me give you a outline what features we are currently working on:
The next "Release #5" is planned for Xmas.
The release after is planned for February.
As some features might need more time finish them not all of what we work on might be ready for Release 5.

* Copper compatibility fixed.
We found a bug in Copper and fixed it.
This fixes a high number of games which before were displayed not perfectly.

* CPU speed up. We are working on /testing CPU improvements which will give you about 10 MIPS speedup. Our target score is 165 Mips.

* H.D.M.I Monitor compatibility improvement
Right now a few monitors not like the V4 signal.
  We work on fixing this.

* More Screenmodes. We will add more Screenmodes to the monitor drivers allowing you to e.g. access 800x600,1024*768 or maybe even 1920x1080(25FPS)

* WHDLOAD improvements. We work on enabling many more games for ApollOS. In the hope that all your old game favorites will be available to run on ApollOS for you.

* Porting a secret new Game!!

* RiVa Video Player PIP improvement!
Smoother truecolor Video Playback for the Workbench

* ApollOS Kids edition with all games child safe!

* Interleaved Audio Stereo Channel mode.
This new mode allows 1 audio channel to play back a stereo 16bit stream. This means only 1 audio channel is needed then for full CD quality Audio. This mode will make game porting easier and also help Atari/Emutos audio.

We are working on many more topics but these are the highlights coming to you hopefully before XMAS!

It seems that the Apollo team has forgotten about the Vampire V2

Not really

A beta gold 2.13 has been released recently, and probably a gold 2.13 soon?

Good News

RELEASE 5 is getting ready.
We plan to be ready for shipping this/next week.

In parallel we started development work on the next RELEASE 6
Main focus of upcoming release RELEASE 6 will be the 3D-Core.
Our timeline for Release 6 is March/2021.

The Apollo-3D-Unit add to the Amiga hardware texture map features, which allows games never seen on Amiga before.

Codename of the 3D unit is right now "MAGIE".
Together with the RELEASE 6 for Vampire4 we plan to bring out also a release for V1200 including MAGIE.

Great news.  I assume that MAGIE for V1200 is meant for RTG only, or not ? Will you provide some SW support for it as well ? Perhaps some library, or Vampire specific implementation of OpenGL ?

Yes its mean for the new SAGA screenmodes.
The Texture Unit supports TRUECOLOR textures, HW Light support and 16bit modes.

Yes we work on some demo code and demo programs.

Lets put the expectations crystal clear.
This is not aimed to be a PS4 Killer.
But we give Amiga a 3D power it never had before.
I think we can do games which are much better looking than PS1 games.
And there were many games in early PS1/PS2 times which were great fun to play and I look forward that we get some enjoyable and fun to play titles to Amiga.

You have a technical spec for the 3D core?

In a nutshell:
The idea is to offload texture mapping.
Therefore the name "MAGIE" as in
MAgic
Grafik
Interpolation
Engine

The MAGIE unit
- has own DMA
- supports compressed truecolor textures
  Today supports textures of: 32x32/64x64/128x128/256x256/512x512
- supports HW Light/Gouraud shading

The MAGIE HW unit offer a speedup of 100 times
compared to doing the same texture operation
it in software (asm) with an 68060 CPU.

Nice idea with DMA, very Amiga spirit. Does that mean it will have its own instruction set to fetch data?
