The team is right now testing a new release for the V1200.

This release will sport the following features.
A) Support for Vampire Fast IDE
Vampire Fast IDE does give you the fastest IDE interface on the market for all AMIGAs.
The speed Vampire Fast IDE of the Vampire Fast IDE will give you a complete new Workbench experience with instant showing up icons and fast loading of programs. Also Killer Applications like Video playback will run best on Vampire Fast-IDE.

B) At the same time support for legacy mainboard IDE.
You can still use your IDe drives connected tot he mainboard.
The will run fully. As obviously the Vampire IDE is many times faster than the Amiga IDE we recommend to move your Workbench drive over to the Vampire Fast IDE for best experience.

C) PCMCIA support, you can use e.g. your Network card on the PCMCIA interface.

D) Full 7 MB/sec Amiga Bus speed.
The connection between the Amiga mainboard and any AMIGA CPU accelerator always was a design challenge - and on many CPU cards this was a bottleneck as many CPU cards are not able to fully saturate the bus.
As far as I know the Vampire1200 is first and only CPU card for AMIGA which is able to correctly and 100% fully use the bus.

These feature will allow you to finally get the maximum out of your A1200.

Great news!

Gunnar, concerning A)+B), I guess this means it will be possible to boot from the Vampire Fast IDE attached device?

Hi gunnar,
thank you for this fantastic news! :)

About last point did you solve the problem with different revision of Amiga 1200 motherboards?
In the other thread there were some users (like me) that had the V1200 not booting with the test core including this feature.

very exciting! many thanks to all involved!

i know i keep thinking "oh i just need a hard disk, doesn't have to be fast, just has to be better than floppies", and then you get a decent drive controller, and you figure out you didn't even realise what you've been missing!

good times indeed :)

The behavior is similar to an A4000T that also has two hard disk controllers (SCSI + IDE). In our case, we have two IDE controllers.

The boot order depends on the partition priority stored in the hard disk. If the highest partition priorities are equal in the both IDE controllers, hard disk in motherboard IDE controller will boot the first.

Note that VDH0: partition priority has been lowered to -1 with the HDToolBox, so DH0: with the higher priority will always boot first, no matter in which IDE controller its CF-Card is put.

PCMCIA port works as well.

This is absolutely sensational. Awesome work guys!

I recently bought a new 64GB Sandisk CF Card so I'll put that on the Vampire's IDE port, leave the Sandisk 32GB CF card I have on the A1200's IDE port where it is, and that, combined with the 32GB SD Card in the V1200, will give me a total of 128GB of storage! WOOT!!

My Matze TK 668030 card, on my A500, does over 10Mbs on IDE, it can't be faster than that ?

Sure its faster.

This is very easy to understand, just remember this:
- Vampire hold CPUs speed record
- Vampire hold Fastmem speed record
- Vampire hold IDE speed record

Very simple

hello, it's appetizing. Is there already a date planned for the provision or possibly access to the current version "BETA"?

Ah, great, finally!

Is it based on my suggestion to map the IDE registers into the A4000 I/O base?
