No the last bastion will be the "non standard" "aka it doesn't identically duplicate an 060 instruction set 1:1 and has 'foreign' additions like AMMX" will be the last argument for those die hards.

In fact, that's for some of them to call it "emulation". :-(

for purists only the past rules so everything added only splits the platform and has to be avoided. You will never make everybody happy. There are certainly a number of people who would have preferred a full compatible accellerator card that adds nothing.

It can give me some speedup over stock A1200 - now. Hardware I can't get (Vampire 1200 or standalone) doesn't give me any speedup over stock A1200. That's why I too would buy a 68040/68060 accelerator if I could find one for reasonable price. Bashing Chucky for doing mostly the same is... well, insane.

No one did bash Chucky for this.
People can buy whatever CPU they like most.

But the Chucky story shockingly shows us - how naive people can be.

What happened?
A single person did register some famous name, PHASE5 or AMIGA, then did set up a free webpage, did post some pictures of CPUs which he took from other peoples ebay listing. Called himself CEO, and he was ready to take money.
This is a success story how to scam people from your bedroom.

Hi John William,

You're very persuasive. You've convinced me! :-)

Phase5 products coming back, would keep Amiga trapped where it has been since ~1999.

The future is HERE!

The vampire, actually ANY model of it, will give you more horse power than any 040 or 060 accelerator, if it’s compatible with your machine (currently only A500 and A600, soon also A1200)
But I have an 040 myself, and it’s pretty good. Still, I want a vampire

Right now no Vampire being sold is compatible with my machine, and I really don't have space for one more classic computer.

So how is going vampire 1200? Pcb finished? Is it booting? Or on test? :)

You don't believe in being patient? I waited a year and months (after selling my ACA500 a year ago) putting my Amiga 500 in the closet until I got my v500 and saved my money. You don't believe in that? You can't wait? You don't feel like investing your money in stocks or something more important until vampire is released? You MUST HAVE this outdated inferior technology over Vampire just because it is not out yet?

I believe in waiting just like I believe in Natami on my desk since at least 5 years, newly manufactured Blizzard that was promised to be available last year, A1200 Reloaded that was scheduled to be released quite some time ago, FPGA Arcade which was supposed to be universally available years ago, and so on. So, when I had a lot of time to play with the OS, I grabbed what I could and played with it.

And I won’t regret it even if Vampire Standalone gets released today. Nowadays I have MUCH less time for Amiga, and I may have even less in the future...

And now is a good moment to sell stocks - not to purchase them. And once Jens runs out of stock of 030’s someday, the price of ACAs will probably skyrocket :)

I dunno about this new Phase5. I wish them all the best to bring something to the table, I really do. but 72 pin sims? 060 chips? the only 060s I could source a few years ago were some G65V mask chips that i'm pretty convinced were ripped out of some old Cisco routers.
I've not even bothered plugging them into anything to see if they're not DOA.

I hope this new Phase5 can pull something out of the woodwork. I've a lot of fond memories Cyberstorms, Blizzards, cybervisions. I hope something realistic to come to market

But i'm all in with the Vampire kit. it goes next level. i'll be  retiring my blizzard cards when that A1200Vamp drops.

@Andy Hearn
Well you see, Phase5 are NOT back, that’s it.
It was just some a-hole who tried to scam people, and he did fool quite some ppl.
In my opinion, he should be thrown in jail for the scam he tried to pull

Don't hold your breath....

.....
seriously don't hold it. It is not good for you.

I mean you can hold your breath but eventually your body's self protective mechanism will make you breath again.

Before anyone buys into this Phase5 hyper I have heard multiple complains about Phase5.

  1. First of all this company is run by a single person Salvador

  2. Salvador has created multiple headaches to Amiga forum moderators (AEB and Amiga.org) where the threatens anyone who criticized his products. I was told by the moderators that they now delete any Phase5 related comments subject

  3. Recently at Amiga32 Salvador showed up as the CEO of Phase5 and he sold a few PPC Blanks for about 140 Euro a Pop which......were completely missing the Ground Plane. Yes these brand new board were totally missing a ground layer.

You should read the following article

  EXTERNAL LINK
I wouldn't put 5cents into these guys. I think somebody got a hold of some old phase 5 stock and they created the company Phase5 out or thin air.

Personally I think the Vampire and WinUAE is the best REAL things that happened about the Amiga over the last 17+ years.

Yup, its easy to be CEO in such company. CUSA at least had two (remainds me in a way)

Ah, that is that moment. Except he needs to step up and starts promoting it in forums, while threatening to be really similar :-)

I throught that 1 guy story was just "private order" "gimmegimmenow!", but he went public with unplopulated boards?

Well, at least there as proof he produced them and not real Phase 5.
Much luck in future production! :-)

Many things that were good happened in past 17 years, including e.g. open source Dopus Magellan, bugxied, AROS, OS4 and MOS starting to share some components incl. Odyssey etc.

UAE was early in the game, but has really grown in time. Dont forget there are packs like AmiKit and AmigaForever built around it. There UAE ARM port is the recent and most progressive event. Amiga will somewhat continue to live on tablets, smartphones and pi sized computers :-)

Where Vampire excells is that it is actual 68k HW advancement, a new development and continuation of processor family (most influental).

And that is decades after Motorola decided to go PowerPC, only to be betrayed by Microsoft and Apple, original alliance member (while Nintendo, IBM and Sony saved a bit of day for that arhitecture).
