This "drama" has been going on for days now.... he produced some boards but "forgot" the GND plane :)

According to the German trade register this company has a total capital of 100 EUR. The "CEO" is a guy who was a best boy at the real phase5 twenty years ago (when the "CEO" had just turned 20).

This is, sadly, "normal" under today neoliberal capitalism and LCC (Limited ... everything) scheme.

While I do wish ANY Amiga related hardware is produced, and I do understand certain interest in P5 products, I am not a customer. Already have a PPC system and not pleased with it, having classic+PPC card would make it even worse.

This is in no way competative to Vamp, except in retro hobby area.

this is so sad, really. The Phase5 products were really good quality and great engineering. I have a Blizzard 1240, and it's superb!

that fool really tried/tries to put an ugly dent in the Phase5 name
Despicable!!

One thing I have noticed is the anti vampire rhetoric, vitriol and hate levels seems to have dropped significantly since this whole P5 debacle dropped.. Don't know if its intentional or just coincidental ..

That is because the Vampire team actually ships product instead of talking bullsh!t.

I think its a combination of;

a) Apollo/Vampire team is delivering hardware
b) Showing progress
c) One of the main arguments, FPU, is no longer valid, thanks to Jari and the team combining Soft and HardFPU.
d) The roadmap with DIGITAL-VIDEO video and sound is hard to hate :)

There is the issue of the legacy MMU, and thats seems to be the last bastion for people that enjoy picking on incompabilities.
When you want to run legacy programs that isnt being developed/supported anymore, then it falls upon the Apollo Team to adapt their Core to to make it run. This is quite the arrogant attitude from outside.
Jaris method of acting is much more helpful. Assist the team.
With regards to the team, if Matthew Garrett is for real AND have time to adapt Linux kernels to run on the current Apollo MMU implimentation, who needs legacy Linux distros that isnt being supported? (I should be careful overstating this tho, since I dont follow Linux development much, so feel free to correct me!).

And lastly; on EAB the admins/mods got tired of the endless flamethreads regarding Vampire, and whipped out the BANhammer. It seems like people got the message from DamienD, and have toned it down. He also banned the most vocal critics.

I'm not so sure that this Salvador guy from Phase5 is out to deliberately scam people so much as he is just completely clueless. It doesn't seem that he has much of a business model let alone any reasonable amount of research and development. And quite frankly his customer service etiquette is appalling. I've worked in the customer service industry for over 25 years and if I had talked to my customers (or potential customers) in that same manner that he has, I would have been sacked in a heartbeat.

All too often I've seen back-yarders (amateurs) attempt to recapture and cash in on the success of a once famous brand name only to have it fall apart because they lacked enough skills to make it successful. It's sad and I'm very glad I didn't buy into this.

TlDr; Ignore the arguments and be optimistic about the future.

I totally agree, I was on a FB thread when one of these arguments kicked off. I told him that the constant arguing was giving me little if no confidence.

The story that he tells is of a conspiracy of people to publicly denounce him and what he's trying to do. He lends him self no favours when he threatens legal action all the time for criticism or becomes abusive. In fairness some of the Amiga FB group have been offensive too, but that I feel now this is more of a reaction.

Offensive things have been levelled at the Vampire/Apollo team resulting in essentially a shrug of shoulders and get on with it from them. Ignoring opportunistic detractors is probably the best path to follow.

I don't think anyone sensible in the community would bash another for trying to create something worthwhile and usable, though attacking others who DO create something worthwhile and usable is quite derisible.

This guy has nothing to do with PHASE5.
This is just a single guy using the name of an old respected company.
And PHASE5 is not the only company name he re-uses.
He registered many companies on the names of different old famous brand names.

What is interested is how he got the cyberstorm PCBs, and from the screenshot in his web page he seems to have access to some cad drawings or designs of the boards.

Several knowledgeable people warned many times, thats this is nothing else than a scam.

AMIGA-News also made it clear that this person does not hold the rights to the cards and does not hold the rights to the firmware.
This means he could never legally produce Phase5 cards.

Currently guys PR is that his supposed new prices of currently non existing hardware are better then ebay prices of (supposedly) same hardware used.

Instead of focusing on some most demanded models, he promises full line incl. 060 with 256mb RAM. Interesting scheme, I dont have any hopes and dont find it competative to Vamp.

Once GOLD3 core is out and v4 on fly, even if it becomes existing, will be just another nail in story why Vamp have been made.

Is so ironic that the the most prominent vampire bashers in a.org chucky (a high end user like he calls himself) fall for this scam lost like 350 euros, and have his 060 wet dreams on death water.
He could have get a vampire for that money.

It was all just bullshit. One of the biggest hints was the empty office rooms he posted pictures of. Those were never got back to with new pictures of actual machines and tools in there. There were pictures like that too, but in different locations. It was all just an elaborate scam

I do not get it! I do not get it! I do not get it! I do not understand and do not get it! Even if this card is true...IT IS GARBAGE! The best card is here...Vampire card. GUYS! This card is an accelerator, a custom chipset upgrade, an audio upgrade, RAM upgrade, integrated video card, support for LAN/WiFi and allows for DIGITAL-VIDEO support as well as IDE port in addition to MicroSD.............GUYS

YOU HAVE OVER 1,000 WORTH OF ACCELERATOR AND UPGRADE all in one shot for less than that and you guys are scrambling for that???!

The vampire in addition to all of this support all Amiga platforms while that......that.....thaaaat......only support one Amiga model...the A1200.

-slaps forehead- Serious??!

Well, you can’t really blame him. At a first glance, and a second one, it looks real. It’s first when you begin to think that hey, maybe this could all be fake, that you look into the details and see the flaws in the facade

Woah, dude... slow down. Phase 5 cards are and were never garbage.
It a stock A500 garbage too? Be serious now.

Yes, the apollo core and the vampire is alot better, but if a Blizzard 1240 would come at a price lower than that of the vampire, many would buy it simply because they would not think themselves needing 080, and in their cases they would be right!

I'm pretty sure there's no one in this forum scrambling for that, but I'm also pretty sure there are Amiga users out there in Amigaland none the wiser who may be. :D

But if in some parallel universe Salvadore managed to actually make new cards and they were as every bit as good as the old ones, then they would be far from being garbage.

Until I'm able to buy either Vampire standalone or a Vampire for my A1200, it's totally useless for me, and even ACA 1220 (which I still have somewhere in my storage) runs circles around this Vampire :)
