Why? Support should be in place before sales start. Are you speaking for the Apollo team?

The standard SAGA/Vampire drivers for RTG and SD card should work I think.

It is an amiga, you do not need drivers...
except the saga driver for RTG.
(ethernet will come later)

I also bought the v4 sa - also with a new empty cf card.
Although it is possible to use r54 but it does not work properly and must be corrected accordingly. But why ? R55 is probably already some time and maybe it's somewhere but where?
It would be good to get the link to r55.

Not if you bang the hardware.  Otherwise you'll need an AHI wrapper at the minimum.  Resampling can be expensive though.

I would be happy to see Hardware Reference manual to bang hardware... I can('t) wait it. I know it is enermous job to do, but if team wan't 3 party developers to get advantage of Saga then plz do so.

Everyone is not happy just to use RTG and AHI.

I don't think there is any yet. Neither for the V2 nor the V4.

The Paula AHI driver works for Pamela as well. To make use of the full spectrum of extras it introduces, you need to bang the hardware directly. I'd assume a Pamela AHI driver will come eventually.

I'd assume the appropriate drivers (included in Coffin R55) will be released within this week.

@ Klaus Melchert

Hi, don't know if you already get contact with someone else of the team (we are in survive mode right now as we just came back from the A34 and had a pretty long road), if not please write  me on guibrush at mac dot com or ping me on IRC (guibrush_ in IRC #apollo-team) and I help you.

That is kind of disapointing. If they announce a Advanced Version of Paula called Pamela and there is no driver for it, it is like advertising a new car without wheels.
I don't think it is a very big chance that we see new Amiga games make use of it but it would be nice to have for playback of Music and Movies and for Music software, trackers.
If for sure could be possible to talk With game develpers about support. I just don't know how much interest there will be in supporting Vampire special features. It depends on the team and the sales I Guess.

I absolutely know what you mean.

But if you understand how AMIGA audio works,
how elegant and smart the DMA design of AMIGA is.
And if you look how AHI is coded - how unelegent and not AMIGA like it is - then you will fully understand why AHI is contradiction the AMIGA principals of elegant and beauty.

Thank you for the explenation Gunnar. It makes scence.
I hope you can make or modify some media player so Pamela
is able to play 16 bit audio. The source code for AROS i386 MPlayer is in the AROS archives. I don't know if that could be usefull. Would also be cool to have some Audio Tracker to take advantage of the 8 channels. I totaly agree that it would be much more clean and nice to not deal with AHI. I know it is much for you already.
I don't think he got time but I could talk to Davy Wenzler. He done lot's of Amiga audio software and drivers.

It is. The hardware is there but nothing to use it. I'm also not sure how to program it. Maybe you must know assembler.

Software to use any and all of the new features (SAGA, AMMX, 68080) is the real issue at this point.

Need a compiler that will produce 68080 target code, and make use of AMMX. Need documentation for people to make use of the new SAGA capabilities, etc.
