Thank you for proving me right!

It does NOT reach this as COPY value.
COPY means READ+WRITE needed!

Your Ragemen score for WRITE is only 50% of the work needed -
to make this happen you also need to READ this amount of data  in parallel.

Your benchmarks score clearly show what I said before.

Ok. As I wrote nobody care about it. Everybody use 3D hardware.

On 68K Amiga? on Doom with a software only renderer that even on a PC would be software rendered?

Serioulsy?  Do you even have a clue?  Everything in Doom was rendered by the CPU.  Doom was written before the advent of 3D GPU's therefore the CPU/FPU did ALL the heavy lifting.

The memory bandwidth/throughput numbers matter a great deal, not only for Doom-like games, but also for the upcoming 3D capabilities that will become part of the future Vampire cores where 3D texture mapping is an integral part of most 3D games.  Being able to move (read/write) large texture maps quickly is a must for any 3D game and takes a lot of bandwidth.

I don't remember whe I first play DOOM on my PC with 3D hardware acceleration.
So many years passed. I think it was twenty years ago or something like that.

update:
I found this EXTERNAL LINK gldoom was released in april 1998.

nevertheless the original was software rendering, that there was a gl engine someone wrote later on is beside the point.

Doom was pure CPU, Quake was pure CPU FPU and Quake GL used h/w 3d

Doing everything by cpu was pc way of doing things before 3D hardware was good enough.
It is ancient tehcnology, and interesting only in historical 320x200 resolution.
For 320x200 3.2 MB/s is enough.
In last twenty years games for better resolutions was made with 3D hardware support. Even 2D. At least 2D is special case of 3D.

Start Doom thread.
I don't understand why Doom and Quake this always come up. I guess it is for benchmarking.

Why is amigastore.eu listing the Vampire 1200 as a V4? At this stage, I thought it was only going to be a V2, with a V4 much later.

When the V4 was first announced it was as both an accelerator and standalone versions. The focus for V4 is currently on the standalone with the accelerators going on the back burner. The V2 accelerator range from Majsta is being extended to include an A1200 version. With all the different versions and announcements things may be a bit confused or out of date on some sites.

Hi! guys congrats on v4sa debut. When do you anticipate they will be available to us unfortunate guys who missed out through a dealer.

  Personal opinion:

Next production run should go to dealers, depending on how many preorders they have set. They will offer their stock, according to interest (not actual preorder, since you dont really pay now, but should once asked) - so if you wish to hear question in next few months, contact Amedia, Vesalia ... one of your choice and hit the button.

Seems Vamp will not so soon - or close to never be "commodity available" more then on demand, in shop next to you. Or even constantly online. v2 has some stock and availiability, but that could vanish in quick, if for some reason demand is high - I believe dealers have some leftovers, but no real pile of stock.

Demand first, production, sales seems to be more of a survival strategy. Unless big sponsor is discovered.

As an example, first expected demand of customers at Amiga Show was met. Then only is feasible to go to next, likely bigger one and carefully observed of expressed interest, otherwise you would financially null previous success.

A question regarding resolution via DIGITAL-VIDEO when playing normal (not workbench) games.  What resolution options are available and is integer scaling an option? Thank you.

When you speak about games, do you mean old AMIGA PAL/NTSC AMIGA games or new RTG games?

I speak about classic 68k PAL games. Like Battle Squadron  :)
