Understandable and wise.
Better to kick off with AROS KS then to delay.

Escom last KS 3.1 / Walker 3.2?
User remused OS 3.9 1MB KS?

Could these shoemehow be licensed from Amiga Inc/H&P?
(None of sides in fight)

Probably because it adds another thing that stops people using it straight away. Also need to buy additional hardware to program the rom  into the V4.

yeah, that makes sense, thanks  :)

I hope this means the V4 for the A2000 is not too far down the road.

Is this now not on the plan anymore?

From Renaulds Sep annoucement

"Some very minor changes have been made to the PCB from developers boards you might have seen (mounting holes instead of capacitor holes, removal of 68k socket, optimizing design for solderability, etc.)."

Does this confirm there will be no V4 for classic Amiga? from the wiki

Q: For which Amiga will Vampire V4 be available ?
A: The Vampire V4 will first be released as a standalone system

For all those customers who want to make an educated decision about buying a Vampire, it would really be nice if you'd clear up if there will be a V4 version for classics instead of mumbling but not really wanting to spill any information about those V4 models.

At the moment it's "buy V2 please, but we won't tell you if there might be a V4 soon".

Very unsatisfactory situation.

I can again say: Buy V2!

The situation is the following.
There are excellent working cards fort A600, A500,A1000 and soon also for A1200.

The V4-Standalone is model to support.
Yes the V4 was planned also for A500 etc etc
But if we bring out now also the V4-500, and V4-Atari-ST and V4-you-name-it

This would mean we have MANY MANY models of the V4
Which our V4 team needs to support and provide best working updates for customer.

This would mean that our effort gets very thin spread and each model
gets only minimal support.

While this might be perfect for the quick money for us,
would this in the best interest for the customers?
Certainly not.

As we want to support our customer to very best - our V4 team decided to 100% focus now on the best support for the V4-SA.

We tried to communicate this before.
V4-SA is the 100% focus of the V4 Team now.

Does this explanation make sense?

Sounds like the right move Gunnar.
For the future of Amiga like OS it is important to not get to stuck on the legacy hardware.

Thats fair enough, I'll still be enjoying my V2 for quite some time and will get the v4 standalone when its available.

Does the swift away from V4 models for classic models has impact on the Gold3 version for V2 cards? Is this still on track and what will it cover?

Many people seem be to in the same situation as me. We have a choice to make:

We would prefer a V4 in our classic Amiga. However, that means even more waiting.

We could get a V2 for our classic, but that gives us a Vampire that's slower, has lower FPU precision, less RAM, etc.. then the V4.

We could get a V4-SA, but that leaves our beloved classic empty and unloved.

We can't afford to buy a V2 for classic and a V4-SA.

I've made my choice. I will get a V2 for my A1200 when available and hope it doesn't take too long for Gold 3 to be back ported to it.

V2 choice isn't that negative. It has tested core, Amiga ks3.1 and enough power for lower price. Coffin, FreeMint and os3.9 roll out of box.

Does not require additional system build up.

If I was you, I would get sa now, and v4 for a500 when done, having two v4s. That is, if extra power and Le fpga space mean much to you. If you want vamp quickly and for a500, v2 for 500 is proven choice. Tested even in a1000.

I think this is getting lost in translation (remember English isn’t Gunnars first language)...

He didn’t say that they won’t ever come. They just aren’t the priority RIGHT NOW.  Priority right now is V4SA and the A1200.  At some time in the future, they will do versions of the v4 for the classic hardware.  They just aren’t rushing to get those out the door for the foreseeable future (my GUESS would be at least 6-12 months) so they can focus on those 2 product launches, and getting all the needed support to make that product successful.  Then they will start worrying about the others.
