Ladies and gentlemen,

I'm very proud and honored to have the opportunity to unveil tonight details regarding Vampire V4 Standalone sales.

As disclosed some weeks ago, first batch will be sold at Amiga34 directly to people attending the event. Next batches will be sold indirectly only by our resellers listed in our WiKi.

The Vampire V4 Standalone comes in standard with aluminium case, corresponding PSU and shipped with AROS kickstart.

For A34, a special bundle will be made available with free "give-aways" add-ons like compatible Mouse, compatible Keyboard, CF-Adapter a 32GB CF card and an USB Blaster. Later, resellers will have the opportunity to sell their own bundles.

Terms & conditions
      * Payment will be accepted in cash or via PayPal.
      * Limitation of one unit per person
      * Offer is available until stock remains, even regarding accessories
      * No support is offered on accessories/give-aways
      * Complete warranty terms are available on our WiKi on EXTERNAL LINK
Information regarding current state of the standalone core
      * Ethernet: work is in progress, driver is being written.
      * USB: support for some input devices like USB mice and keyboards. Support
for more is in progress. Compatibility list available on WiKi ( EXTERNAL LINK )
      * Joystick : Status support of AMIGA Joy (like Competition Pro)
      * OCS/AGA: Many games and demos work perfectly, but not 100%.
      * Boot drives: boot from IDE/CF, microSD card for data exchange. Bootable
      microSD is in roadmap.

Price of that special A34 bundle is 549€

All details are available here :

Great news guys. I was waiting for this announcement the last weeks.
Now I have to arrange me one from Amiga34. I think I'll ask a good friend to get me one :D

Well done guys.

Congrats on the announcement guys!

Questions though....

1) will the AROS kickstart allow me to still run AmigaOS/Workbench, or are we stuck with only AROS?

2) If we have a valid Amiga KS license, is there a way we can use that instead if we want?

I've just never run AROS and my attempts to get it running inside of FS-UAE have been unsuccessful so just wondering if we're going to be limited in any way going with AROS or not.

I'm assuming the Cloanto guy wanted a small fortune per board for using the old Amiga KS Roms.... grr.

Its a nice price for a system that can be hooked to a modern TV(DIGITAL-VIDEO cable maybe?). Congrats on big launch!

Surely core will progress. Only real surprise is AROS Kickstart as sale solution, too bad Amiga is in legal limbo.

Is there a good AROS KS compatibility list? That is the only question, rest is really to celebrate.

And price in € :)

AROS IS AMIGAOS 3.X but open source and free and have no sharks having their teeth on it. After it get the necessary polishing it should run majority hopefully 95% of all the Amiga games and software. Besides, I assume you already have a classical Amiga and V2 anyways? So whatever AROS cannot run...you can still use your classical Amiga.

The team is working on polishing and perfecting AROS ROM for Vampire and optimizing it. Give them time :D Just enjoy your V4 slowly growing in front of your very own eyes same as a parent sees his or her child grow in front of them.

In fact! This is a great opportunity while AROS is in it's infancy stage is to request certain features that other AROS do not have before it is too late and the door of modification is closed. I know...- grin - I did put my input for a certain feature THAT NO CURRENT AROS have it now (even the x86)!

I know what AROS IS (or at least is TRYING to be).

I don't know just how compatible it REALLY is though.

For example, are we going to be able to just run the Coffin OS image as it is on top of the AROS kickstarts?

If we have (or purchase) a legal Cloanto KS, can we somehow use that in place of the AROS one if we want?

And while I currently have an A500+V2, eventually I'd like to move down to just the V4SA - I don't have room for all this stuff! Currently selling off all my A1200 stuff...

Y...you are going to sell your Amiga 500+V2?!!

Eventually I might... I have a small condo. I don't have room for all my Macs, PC's, Amigas, and the dozen plus Small board computers, game consoles, MAME cabinet, DIY CNC machine, Prusa Mk3+ MMU2 3D printer, etc.

The 500 takes up a decent amount of desk space... The V4SA, a FRACTION of that.. As it is I'm thinking of trying to turn the V4SA into a laptop/portable of some sort...

Are you asking this question from a legal or a technical standpoint?  From a legal standpoint, the Apollo team sells hardware and the end user can load whatever they want.  But selling a standalone Amiga replacement loaded with ROMs whose ownership is in dispute is inviting a law suit, so the safe route is avoid the issue and just load AROS ROMs or leave ROMs out altogether and let the user figure it out.  I realize that some users may not be technically inclined enough to load their own ROMs so pre-loading AROS ROMs is a good move.

Technically, I don't think AROS 68K is ready for prime time and is missing some functionality so I'll be removing AROS kickstarts and loading 3.1 ROM images instead.

I think that the Apollo team is launching the V4 SA with AROS ROMs just to avoid being sued by Cloanto and/or Hyperion since the V4 SA is being marketed as a complete, standalone Amiga replacement. The Vampire accelerator cards didn't carry any legal stigmas because they relied on an existing Amiga and those were all sold with a licensed KS and OS.  Hopefully, and with the Apollo team's financial and technical support, AROS will mature to the point where we can leave Cloanto, Hyperion, OS 3.1.x, and all the legal problems behind.

Does the DAC board automatically output Pamela audio?

Are Amiga mice supported on the 9 pin D-type ports?

What about CD32 controllers (I wouldn't expect paddle or light pen support though)?

Is the list of supported mice (not mouses) and keyboards exhaustive or are they the only ones that there has been a chance to test?

KB/Mouse is just what they've tested so far. I'm sure as we all get our hands on the units and try more that list will grow...

I believe Gunnar has said that normal DB9 Amiga mice will still work.

Dunno about the DAC add on board, but I assume the answer is yes.

I think Mike's questions are very valid and I'm sure we will get these questions answered soon by the team. It's highly likely there will be provisions to allow us to replace the AROS Kickstart with a legally purchased Amiga Kickstart ROM. For example, I bought OS 3.1.4 with Kickstart 3.1.4 and would like to flash it into the Vampire via VampireFlash314. So no doubt we can continue to do this.

Yeah I suspect this was just to keep out of the legal hassles. Assuming we can still do things like this: EXTERNAL LINK then I think we'll be fine...
