yes why not

but first it should be tested/optimized to work fast enough

AROS in general and 68080 CPU are fast enough.
The AROS RTG system for Vamp needs some tuning.
Some operations not yet run accelerated.
But I think this is just coding work that needs be done.

@if you do make a vamped AROS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use a different set of default icons.. those that come with AROS are for lack of a better word .. hideous ..

Even the default OS3 icons are not beautiful, then one if he wants can change them or create them as I did in my distro AROS x86 and AROS One 68k

The icons included in Coffin look also pretty nice.
Maybe using the same Iconset also on AROS would be a nice idea.

I do not know which Icons are used in coffin

generally art like icons is copyrighted like everything else

so I need a permission from creator/copyright owner to use them and the icon set must be big

Yes, this is no problem.
The icons were drawn by the Vampire Team.
And are free to use with any Vampire project. :-)

fyi there is already an aros68k github project geared among others towards vampire. it even contains an open task for low color prefferably iff icons. the icons simply need to be commited to a subdirectory (or module?) in a proper hierarchy and they can be simply built along with aros using a proper configure option. no more messing with and updating everything by hand upon every release.
EXTERNAL LINK  unfortunatelly, as i have mentioned it stopped to boot on vamp feew weeks ago and i couldnt find the reason even though i should know at which main repo commit it still worked.

just wanted to say thanks @Wawa T, and @Vojin for the time taken to give me/us little bit of background and understanding of AROS's ideas, and goals.

A vampire optimized Aros68K version would be nice...

Is there a plan to have a special Aros Distribution for Vampire? I would like to have different Versions for instance:

"Light" like OS 3.1 or better MagicWB Style fast and light,
  "Medium" like OS 3.9 and
"Heavy" fullblown icon sets and style ;-)

For my taste, Coffin and Aros are to colorfull, I like it more slim/flat and light, like the iOS and Android UI and Icon Styles. Keep it simple and fast :-)

Sounds like a lot more work ...
Needs a lot more hands to do this and a lot more time.

I would be fully happy if there is 1 good working AROS distro.

definitely not if you ask me. there is enough version mess and enough to do. the users can also tweak their systems themselves if they like, rather to demand to get served everything on a plate.

a good thing is a basic distribution as workbench was, which a user can extend to his expectations (and this was imho a healthy amiga philosophy) and easily at that (which may have not been the case at all times).

the basics should be limited to the necessary.

I see there is a lot to dispute about tastes so I am with you, a basic distribution would be the best to fit the needs. The rest depends what the user is doing with that :-)

also if we could keep the backdrops "family friendly" then that would be appriciated too.

i remember my wife walking in to tell me something as an amikit install finish booting to a half naked catwoman backdrop get loaded.

"oh that's why the door was shut" was all she said.

*big faceplam* so yeah, graphic "lite" would be most welcome.
