When using NetSurf with the latest beta core, NetSurf windows is all yellow with reduced colour for text and graphics, which are mainly green and red. I am using the vampiregfx.card that came with the core and put it in LIBS:Picasso96 folder.

I noticed that if I set the workbench screen to 1024x768 BGR (not sure if it supposed to be "BGRA" as "BGR" is all that shows up in the list) then I get the same yellow screen with green and red text/graphics, but if I set it to RGB or ARG (ARGB?) then it is fine. Cannot seem to find a fix for NetSurf though.

Using V600 with AOS 3.1.4.1 and Picasso96 2.4.3.

I had this problem with earlier versions of NetSurf. After lowering the color depth of the screen from 24 bit to 16 or 15 bit, this problem disappeared.
As far as I know, this has nothing to do with the Vampire, because I had this on an A4000.

So I have done a clean install of Amiga OS 3.1.4. Installed Picasso96 2.0 driver from Aminet. Also installed SAGA driver (I have tried 1.5.2 and 1.7.1). When selecting 1024x768 BGRA mode for workbench, the entire workbench screen is yellow with what appears to be reverse colours for icons, wallpaper etc (almost like looking at a negative photo). If I select RGB or ARGB then it is fine.

The problem with NetSurf itself is that, even if I select RGB or ARGB for workbench, then those changes don't affect NetSurf. NetSurf is stuck with a yellow screen.

If I go into NetSurf's settings and attempt to select RGB or ARGB then this makes no difference either as it seems to be stuck in BGRA mode and therefore anything it displays is yellow with reverse colouring for text and images. NetSurf doesn't seem to have any provision for changing colour mode.

Please remember this happens in the latest RC 3 of 2.12. I don't believe that I was even experiencing this with RC 1 or RC 2. And it certainly doesn't occur in GOLD 2.11.

So again my system configuration is:

    Amiga 600 with Vampire 600 V2
    Amiga OS 3.1.4 (fresh install)
Picasso96 2.4.3 (Also tried 2.0 as already stated)
SAGA v1.5.2 (Have also tested v1.7.1)

Have tried 2 different monitors with same results.

Surely someone must have a similar config as this and run into this issue. :)

It's been an issue ever since I've owned a Vampire on an early gold core, going down to a 16-bit color desktop always "fixes" it.

OK, thats weird. I never experienced any issues like this from GOLD 2.0 all the way to GOLD 2.12RC2. In fact, just went back to 2.12RC2 and its back to normal. Then flashed RC3 again and the yellow screen comes back for the BGRA setting.

Another issue I have discovered in RC3 is that when selecting 16 Bit PC mode, then entire screen gets squashed to the left hand side (to about the first 3rd of the screen). Again this doesnt happen with RC2 or earlier.

Hi Simo,

I noticed in your Screenmode Prefs for OS 3.1.4 that you have 16bit selected (same as your OS 3.9 screenshot). What happens to your workbench screen when you select 32bit BRGA?

Not Vampire related, but I have used 16-bit mode (R5G6B5) with NetSurf, because Artur Jarosik asked to use it only. Here are modes which SAGA supports and within parentheses which Amiga Workbench supports.

      Chunky:
CLUT:    (Workbench) 8bit chunky with palette
      HiColor:
          R5G5B5:  (Workbench) 15bit HiColor (0rrrrrgggggbbbbb)
          R5G5B5PC:            15bit HiColor (gggbbbbb0rrrrrgg)
          R5G6B5:  (Workbench) 16bit HiColor (rrrrrggggggbbbbb)
          R5G6B5PC:            16bit HiColor (gggbbbbbrrrrrggg)
      TrueColor:
          R8G8B8:  (Workbench) 24bit TrueColor (8 bit each)
A8R8G8B8: (Workbench) 32bit TrueColor ARGB (A unused alpha channel)
B8G8R8A8:            32bit TrueColor BGRA (A unused alpha channel)
      YUV:
          RGBFB_Y4U2V2:        2byte TrueColor (YUV422)

Thanks Simo. Still my question is though, have you actually set your Workbench screen prefs to 32bit BGRA?

The following shows the results of 32bit BGRA. It is supposed to be yellow but the camera can't capture it, so assume all the white areas are actually yellow. As you can see the colours are all wrong:

The following is Workbench set to 16 bit PC:

No mater what 32 bit mode I try to set in Netsurf it is always BGRA:

If I set 16 bit mode, I get this:

Ignore the fact that the settings say 24 bit, I was in the process of changing it. You'll also notice that mouse pointer looks fine in each shot as well as the Netsurf settings window.

Why should he do this?

SAGA support both Big-Endian and Little-Endian GFX modes.
AMIGA and MAC OS typically uses the Big-Endian modes.
So on AMIGA you will find many programs needed the Big-Endian mode to have correct colors.

The Little Endian modes are useful for PC-Task and other PC emulators - its not recommended to use them for Workbench!

Let's forget about Netsurf for a moment. It's happening in Workbench as well when Netsurf isn't running. Whereas in previous cores those modes are fine.

EDIT: Ok I just read your re-edited post. Ok no probs, I understand. I repeat, though, that those modes that I mentioned did work in older cores.

Also it doesn't mater what 16bit mode I set Netsurf to, it does what is shown in the last picture so even normal 16 bit mode doesn't work for me.

Vampire 500 V2(+) flasher EXE: EXTERNAL LINK
Vampire 600 V2 flasher EXE: EXTERNAL LINK

Hello, I am new to Vampire and I have a 600 V2.2 and would like to try and flash this but have a few questions.

When I flashed 2.11, I used the V600_5851_G211_693-562.jic file and that was fine.  The link you provided has three files and none of them are a .jic file.  Are there some instructions that I am missing.

Also, the notes say vampiregfx.card 1.26 (18.08.19) is needed, copy it to the LIBS:Picasso96 -folder.  do I do that before I flash the card?

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

For EXE files you need to have bootable AmigaOS. But need no lame PC!
For JIC files you need USB Blaster, PC, Tools and step by step patience

SAGA drivers and P96 are installed AFTER core update, if core is latest, DRIVERS HAVE TO BE LATEST too :)

Yes, it's a flasher EXE file for Amiga. Unpack Lha file into your SYS: root. Then reboot and go to 'Early Startup' by holding the both mouse buttons. Select 'Boot With No Startup-Sequence' to access CLI. Execute 'flashromkickV600_7123_11x_c6gk'. After that you can also copy vampiregfx.card to its place. Then power off and wait 10 sec before powering up again.

That is, in fact, latest and most recommended P96.
