I have to say, I wasn't really interested in buying one for myself because I am a big fan of the wedge Amigas.  But after looking at what he has done, it makes me seriously want one.  He has done an outstanding job.  Really well thought out and researched by the looks of things.

Yes, I can bet it will be the best looking and best for modding Classic+Vamp or Standalone Case.

Whoever can, should grab one and make space for molds and future production. If it fails, it shall never raise again.

My only sadness is that I do live in society in Europe where 200$ is  minimal wage (sub-African standard today), thus I cannot commit at these times.

But Im pretty sure Ill end up with a Checkmate before the end of the Kickstarter... :)

Altho, I have a old A1200, which addons, which is a bit bastarized. Maybe thats a better candidate for it...

Please make that 2x KS orders (or one double) in 2 weeks ;-) You can have black A600V and white/beige Checkmate A1200 >:-)

Yup, thats a $400+ away but solves many casing, yellowing, cable etc. issues.

KEYBOARD

If this passes he promises to do keyboard via Partheon as safer backing campaign with time unlimited

At work the owner of the company have handed me a very brand new mint-condition, beautiful gaming PC case with everything inside and it is shining. So I already have a case for my V4. It is sitting in my bedroom ready to be filled.

However, what I am looking for is a kit to make the V4 work on my PC gaming case. I need the backplate and I need a placeholder for the V4 to sit on the case. Ones that is done..I am done. I already bought a keyboard brand new logetic for 20 bucks for my V4. It have a very comfortable touch too. I have a mouse also ready for it.

So I have everything I need for my V4 except for the kit. Anyone know where I can get the kit? I am willing to buy it this Friday immediately.

What is left is getting a power supply and mechanical hard drive and a dvd-burner for like 20 bucks brand new and I have a new Amiga computer!

Bravo! You can always think of PC version of Checkmate as Pi/PC case, Stephen is always willing to install jampack of software to such system and it can be quite powerful Linux/Windows/AROS platform. And a gift to someone, quite unique too.

Yeah...erm..but this case will have real V4 and not PC/Pi that uses emulator...erm. It is the real V4 and it will be pure 100% legit hardware and not software Amiga.

So I am still stuck with the backplate kit and a placeholder to put in my real V4! That is what is left.

I have a question to ask.

I have the normal PC gaming case sitting in my bedroom. But I need a special kit for the V4. I need the backplate kit and whatever adaptors to hook from V4 to go through the holes of the backplate of the case. I also need a placeholder to allow my V4 to screw tight and hold into any PC case. Does Checkmate 1500 offer this? If they do I will order this immediately.

Sadly, he does not read this fora.

To best of my knowledge
Checkmate has a place for Standalone, space for A500/A600 and V4 and yes, PC version of case suitable for Vamp has a backplate.

But please confirm your exact wishes with Steven.

Sorry if this is negative I have nothing against this project.

But I dont think this will be founded, sorry.

And I think the reason for that is that there has been too many projects like this. And too many projects that dont devliver when they say they will deliver. Projects that was to take 1 year will be 2 years, and thats why I will not support this project even if I would love a A3000-style case.

Well @Tango One, I've been lurking hear for a couple of years without posting. Your comment about this case has been enough to prompt me to finely join the forum!

I don't think there will ever be a genuine opportunity to have a multi-purpose A3000 style case produced again – what's really needed at this stage is for people to spread the word about it; if you decide not to back it fine, but the Amiga community will miss out on having a genuinely practical, multi-purpose gorgeous A3000 style case to house their Vampires,Amigas, Mini ITX/Micro ATX motherboards, if it doesn't reach its goal.

If anyone wants to know more, why not check out David Pleasance on next Checkmate A1500+ Live Q&A 23rd September 8pm.

  With such attitude, surely wont.

Gladly not all Amigans think like that.

Only near quality case was Lorianos and that cannot fit Standalone and is not avail at moment.

$60,219 pledged of $101,307 goal
249 backers
9days to go

Its about time to SPREAD the news of it and CHIP IN to SUCCEED, not to COMPLAIN OR MOAN. At least 70 backers more is needed, if not more.

I'm waiting to get paid at the end of the month, which should be just before the deadline.

FRom AW.net, I agree
EXTERNAL LINK
As most AmigaWorld.net regulars know by now, Stephen Jones is currently running a Kickstarter aiming to raise 77,500 GBP to fund Checkmate A1500 Plus - a brand new A3000-esque, modular computer case suitable for the upcoming Amiga Tabor and the Vampire motherboards, as well as existing A1200 and A500 motherboards. The campaign, which has been running since August, 28th, has so far managed to collect around 45,000 GBP from around 247 users. Although that's a feat all in itself, it's nowhere near the set goal - and since Kickstarter only allows an "all-or-nothing" approach, it's basically do or die for the Checkmate; Jones himself has said repeatedly that the project won't see the light of the day if the fundraiser isn't successful by the time it wraps up on Tuesday October, 2nd.

At the time of this writing, chances are the fundraiser will in fact fail. The graph above shows the trend as presented by Kicktraq's all-seeing algorithms. Clearly, the fundraiser needs to pick up its pace and attract more attention within the week. Here's where you can help out! See, the Checkmate doesn't only cater to AmigaOS users. Its modular design allows for standard Mini ITX and Raspberry Pi motherboards, too - making the case an ideal solution for ex-Amiga users now running other operating systems, like Linux and Windows. Getting the word out to those users is something everyone can help out with, especially considering quite a few of them tend to hang out on various Facebook groups and public forums not associated with the Amiga community.

Since Stephen Jones is based in the UK/EU, reaching out to non-English speaking users is next to impossible seeing it not only requires proficiency in other languages, but knowledge about where the potential users hang out, too. Take Sweclockers, for instance - home to thousands of Swedish PC builders that have no idea about the Checkmate. Likewise, there are similar forums all over the planet - but the trick is to find them, and to target them. Here's where you can make a big difference! Do the campaign and the community a huge favor and post a few posts in your native language on any place you can think of; and if you happen to be a native English speaker, than there's work for you, too - the more people that know about the campaign, the better! Provide a few (clickable) links to EXTERNAL LINK
With a surge of interest and a bit of luck, chances are the community will have a badass hardware platform to look forward to!

@Tango One
It's a bit ironic posting on the Apollo forum about not supporting another project because others have taken twice as long as anticipated to deliver. Delays are to be expected and as long as they deliver what was promised eventually and have done their best to meet their promises you can't really ask for much more. There's no reason to think the A1500+ project will be delayed if funded but it may be as that's the nature of small "spare time" retro projects.

I didn't realise the money wouldn't be charged at time of pledging, so I've now backed the project. A nice white desktop case would be nice.

By now most dedicated Amiga users are in with a small contingent waiting to buy at the end. It will take general pc hobbyists to make this hit it's goal.
I hate cliffhangers.
