Didn't Gunnar just say no?

As you can see from this video (go to min.4:30), there's a beta core with aga and fpu. So there's hope.

so can we get a yes or no to FPU  in AGA Core?

  That's a definite NO.

Looking at Jonny’s video from Amiten, he has Aga through hdmi with Pamela sound.
In his sysinfo there showed 50 mflops so that means an fpu is present, correct?

Just a couple of questions regarding Gold3.

1 - As it replaces any chipram expansions, is the expansion slot disabled totally, or can it still be used so for the RTC and Clockport that is on several memory expansions?

2 - Are there any plans to eventually split Gold3 so users can choose if they would rather have FPU or AGA/SAGA?

Great work though. Just hope the A600 expansion port remains useful for RTC and Clockport

Both question were answered before in this thread.

a) Yes you can still use RTC

b) Both 2.x and 3.x will be available to use.

SoftFPU is always an option on APOLLO.
SoftFPU on APOLLO is faster than a classic FPU-chip as 68882@50 MHz
Apollo HardFPU is faster then 68060-FPU.

Thanks for the clear answers Gunnar :)
Hate to make a choice but that will change when the V4 is launched :)
I can hardly wait for it's arrival. :D

With gold 3.0 all gfx and audio will og out the DIGITAL-VIDEO port, is it then nessesary to run P96?

It would have been really nice if all gfx modes then would have been Amiga (Vampire) native. If its so, can those native modes go up to lets say 720P?

No, P96 drivers are NOT needed.
You can see Amiga Display (Early Boot/Amiga WB/Games) without drivers.
Gold 3.0 with display "720x576 PAL" per default.
This mode is supported by any TV and DIGITAL-VIDEO Monitor.

As someone in North America (Canada) i'm used to NTSC modes. My Amiga hard drive backups, from when i had real Amiga's, and my WinUAE hardfiles all use NTSC.

I've been assuming NTSC was supported, but now i'll ask. Is NTSC supported?

If not by default, should be from early boot menu.

Almost all DIGITAL-VIDEO TVs and Monitors even in North America support PAL modes.

Huh? I do assume you'll do still need P96 for the higher res screen modes?

I am glad about standards getting fused. If I may joke a bit - now they just need to double the power outpout, conevert inches to cms and fareinheits to celsius, and they ll be good :-)

On Amiga side, we always had that bad thing Video Toaster was NTSC only, even Amigas were more popular in Europe. I am glad there are Americans that are Amigans even today.

I think he might have meant that the P96 drivers don't need to be installed in order to get video out through the DIGITAL-VIDEO as that will happen by default. Might still need to install it for higher resolutions perhaps.

There were some reports over on the Ultimate64 groups about some North American HD displays not actually working with PAL DIGITAL-VIDEO output.. Just an FYI .. I dont know which makes/models .. but some American users reported issues .. So it seems we are not entirely past that whole PAL/NTSC debacle just yet.

Im still a bit fuzzy on this whole thing, .. (I think this thread has confused me more)

So with core3, in regards specifically to the FPU, are we kinda going backwards to the state in previous cores were we had to fully use FEMU in software 100%, say like the situation was with core 2.5? and there is no "partial" hard FPU in core3 like there is now in core2.9? Or are we still getting a hybrid where key fpu functions are hard and the rest rely on femu... If so thats fine, I am just trying to make sure in my mind I am clear on the features we will see and what we wont, or what we are trading off.

Secondly, SAGA/AAA will we still have "RTG" style modes we enjoy now on 2.9, eg 16/24bit workbench etc, will those still be available on core3? .. or is that reverting back to a more AGA like limitations in terms of color depth/resolutions? Again fine, I am just trying to make sure I am clear the features that are coming with core3.

I’m waiting for V4, so the problem doesn’t exist there.

Are you sure it's with the DIGITAL-VIDEO input?, or are they talking about PAL/NTSC issues on Composite or Component video inputs on said TV?
